    Al Albuquerque has been pretty Wuertz-y so far watching him, seems like he throws his slider every single pitch (fangraphs lists its usage 65.5% of the time, compared to 34.5% for his 94.6 MPH fastball). coming into today, he's struck out 22 in 12-1/3 IP in other news, Rich Hill's quietly pitched 3-2/3 scoreless innings for Boston since being called up last Thursday

    Most of the guys they have we could have had if we were willing to spend big on the draft. Hopefully Ricketts will be willing to do so. take nothing away from the royals - they've done great to go well above slot to grab talents like myers, crow, dwyer, hosmer, etc, but they've also had the advantage of being consistently lousy and drafting at the front of each round. players like hosmer, moustakas and crow were not available when we were drafting. plus even their slot picks have had an above-average number of hits lately. they're doing the draft right... cubs are not. When you have a top 5 pick pretty much every year, your bound to put a team together eventually. See Rays, Tampa Bay. they've had Upton, Longoria and Price as top picks contributing ok, now explain away everybody else

    Luis Gonzalez's career almost perfectly mirrors Bautista's done so far 9 seasons with a .268/.341/.432 (.774) line, then he goes to Arizona and the next 3 seasons with a .324/.408/.593 (1.001) line i don't even remember if he was linked with steroids, but a lot of that team was suspicious, Jay Bell most of all

    yeah, Lake, Burke and Vitters were three guys i gave up all hope for last year, and Lake's line so far just has me shoveling more dirt on his coffin

    Z's been good but LA's lineup is really bad today as well. that's putting it mildly, this is perhaps the worst lineup i've seen all year throughout baseball; Kemp's the only hitter who's not purely AAA-fodder

    music to my ears now we can sign a couple decent starters (Josh Wilson?, Tulloch/Nicholas?) to push some flawed players into depth roles and i'll start printing playoff tickets

    seems like two big winners in this draft are Walterfootball, for their prediction on Mallett falling so far, and Gosselin for nailing most of the first round

    i still can't believe the other-worldly haul the Browns got for the 6th pick they'll have a hard time not having the best draft of any team for the next year and this one
