    I've never used the term "bad" in reference to Flacco. He's average when it comes to legitimate QBs in the league. Except that he's not average. http://wp.advancednflstats.com/playerstats.php?year=2012&pos=QB&season=reg Ranked as the #12 QB during the regular season. Including playoffs, he's ranked #6. In 2011, he was ranked #9 in the regular season, and in 2010 he was ranked #5 in the regular season. why are you using WPA for this exercise?

    career Lillibridge is a career 89 wRC+ (vs. LHP) opposed to 51 for righties so they're both (he & Valbuena) historically completely dreadful vs. RHPs, but borderline adequate otherwise

    didn't realize Valbuena had heavy reverse-platoon split 65 wRC+ vs. RHP 97 wRC+ vs. LHP well, that does complicate matters

    I would think there are three options. Fire sale. Hold firm. Actually go out and try to acquire a difference maker. There are variations of those, like a Vitters for somebody's overpaid veteran which is essentially holding firm. The chances of actually going out and acquiring a difference maker would probably require the team being in first or second by late July. option four, and maybe my favorite, is to still pick up a devalued asset regardless of our status as sellers if we're out of playoff reach, we can trade off Soriano/DeJesus/Marmol, etc. and still pick up future contributors; the Yankees got 2-1/2 good years of Abreu by relieving the Phillies of his contract, same with the Dodgers going after Hanley (unless you think Eovaldi was a significant return [i don't])

    slightly tangential, but what's really sad (to me) cap hits (source: http://www.spotrac.com/nfl) Matthew Stafford: $20M, $19M, $17M, (FA) Joe Flacco: $7M, $15M, $15M, $29M, $31M Stafford has $41M guaranteed, and Flacco has $29M; i don't know if he'll make it past 2015 as a Raven but Flacco actually earned a Super Bowl to get paid like he did, Stafford just got a Brinks truck of cash simply for having potential FFFFFUUUUUUU old CBA
