  1. Give me a friggin break, we're not even at .500 yet. It's way too early to give up on the season.
  2. Get him on the HGH like Giambi and I'm sold. Of course, his ego wouldn't allow it, and the Cubs have already smeared him and burnt that bridge.
  3. I think Kasper/Brently > Chip/Stone at this point, as far as being entertaining to listen to. And when you're hired by the Cubs to announce, your job is to put over teh Cubs product, not call an objective game. That's for the guys on ESPN and Fox.
  4. MLB has awarded Wood the simulated pitcher of the month award.
  5. Ozzy. Ozzy was worse, but that was because he's an actual musician, didn't care, probably was high, and didn't know the words. He wasn't nearly as grating on the ears as this guy, though.
  6. take some freakin pitches... how embarassing if Duke pitches a complete game
  7. Has to the be the worst 7th inning stretch I've heard, just as far as being off-key.
  8. Um....NOOOOO. I'd prefer to not increase Guzman's chances of getting injured. He should have never started the inning. Um, he only had 90 pitches and was pitching well. He's a big boy, only a few months younger than Z... not like he's a 19-year old out there.
  9. Dusty should have let Guzman finish the inning... Novoa has lost it after dropping the ball earlier.
  10. They really ought to implement instant replay with a challenge system in MLB... give each manager a couple challenges a game (for everything except strike calls). It's not like there's not a ton of stalling already, so a couple minutes here and there is going to have little effect and they'd actually get the calls right. Heck, it probably wouldn't take much longer than when the managers come out and argue on the field for minutes right now.
  11. Pardon my asking but, How exactly do you win when your team scores 0 runs in 9 innings? The Furcal/Lee play would have never happened since the rotation would have been set up differently, therefore Lee never gets hurt.
  12. I think he'll settle down and be fine next inning... a lot of those balls would be strikes with a different ump.
  13. That was cool, but that was very stupid... Z breaking the bat over his leg.
  14. Probably Guzman time pretty soon, although I'd rather see Maddux get a couple quick innings in. :D
  15. Hendry said on WGN that Guzman will be available out of the pen today or tommorrow and they'll decide if he gets a start Wednesday on Monday.
  16. Guzman has allegedly been called up.
  17. Baseball tonight mentioned Tony Clark, Shea Hillenbrand, Pena, and Kevin Millar as guys the Cubs should go after.
  18. How come you get all these crazy injuries in baseball and the only things you see in the NBA are broken hand/thumbs (usually from practice), knee injuries (from wear and tear of jumping over 10 years), and foot/ankle injuries (usually from wear and tear over years or stepping on someone's foot). Maybe a broken nose here or there too (but that doesn't put someone on the DL). I gotta think conditioning is a huge part of it. Baseball is way behind basketball and football in this area. The steroid era definitely increases the risk of muscle tears, as well, even if guys are off them now.
  19. I blame the fans for negative mass consciousness and yelling "oh no we're DOOMED!!" for every little thing that happens. It's gotta rub off on the team.
  20. We only have 2 more seasons after this of "cheap" Prior and Z, so it's time to make a big splash. The window is closing. We'd be set up to be scary good with Cabrera for 2007 and 2008 if we got him.
  21. Losing Lee is going to hurt but it's not impossible to overcome at all, particularly with how good the pen is and with Wood/Prior on the way back. This team can still claw it's way to 4/5 runs a game... they're not gonna start getting shut out just because Lee's on the DL. And when Jones goes on a hot streak, that'll be another good bat. The schedule is pretty easy after this Cards series, too (Marlins and Pirates at home). As long as we don't get sweeped this weekend we're in good shape until Wood comes back
  22. <---- should have thought of that already I don't think the Ewing theory works when the guy already has a World Championship ring. :?
  23. They'd want way more than that.
  24. Too bad we can't get Seung Yeop Lee or some Cuban defector. There ought to be a decent 1B we can dig up somewhere.
  25. If he breaks Gagne's save streak, we need to buy him that Aston Martin he wanted from D Lee
