    How do you explain the fact that we have closers in baseball, and some of them suck in non-save situations? Or the fact that a guy like a LaTroy Hawkins can be lights-out in the 7th or 8th inning but fall apart in the 9th? I see no reason why clutch play doesn't exist in baseball like any other sport... just the effects are limited as a hitter since so much depends on the pitcher and luck.

    Cubs tickets are still cheap compared to a lot of sports... try going to a college FB game sometime... it's $50/ticket min. :evil:

    We shouldn't trade him, considering he has no value and he would surely revert to 2003 form on any other team with Cubs luck.

    Just give him Wrigley Field in exchange for a ten-year deal at SS. Problem solved. Arod turns around and sells it to Cuban and everyone laughs all the way to the bank.

    Getting Arod only increases the sales value of the team. Seriously, they'd make half his salary back on jerseys alone.

    The issue with that is, you pick a neutral site, let's say Phoenix, in advance. Then, you wind up with a Seattle/NY world series. So the teams finish up the LCS, then fly to Phoenix for 1 day, then fly to NY for 2, then Seattle, then NY and back to Seattle. It's impossible. You can't start with 1 and end with 1 and 1. The NBA went 2-2-1-1-1 at one point (and may still do) with no problems. I know the NHL still does 2-2-1-1-1 for the Stanley Cup. Wouldn't be an issue for the WS. It just adds a couple extra off days.

    This press conference announcing Dusty is hilarious... so much spinning going on. The main reasons the GM and President are giving for hiring Dusty is he's a "nice guy" and their people who have been in baseball think he's a really nice guy. Dusty said he talked to Joe Morgan before deciding to come to Cincy. Dusty's also said he can get "players' to Cincinnati and how they "need some parts". He said players were already calling him trying to come to Cincy (Nefi?). Someone finally nailed him with the "young pitchers" question and he danced around it, said he wasn't going to defend himself and said "look at my whole record".

    My friend who's a Reds fan is on suicide watch. :lol: Could get pretty ugly in Cincy.

    I think you could definitely count the Braves' ownership as one of Cuban's backers, as Liberty Media has to work with Cuban's companies quite a bit (i.e., HDNet is on DirectTV).

    It definitely is... did Caray and Brenly work together at Fox before 98? Either way, Chip's so similar in some ways to Kasper that they work together real well.

    What time did you get in? I didn't want to go for four, get rejected and then be behind the 8 ball. In the first 5-10 minutes. My confirmation e-mail from MLB.com is dated 11:08.

    I got 4 in section 434 and my friend got 4 in 536 for home game 1. Already going to game 3 on saturday :)

    The Cubs do, as they're the #3 seed since they won a division. Wild Card team is always the #4 seed.
