Agreed 100%. That's a must. Personally, I'd keep the foot on the pedal until next Friday, except for setting the rotation up however Lou wants it. If you give the position players and relievers too many days off we'll be pretty rusty going into the playoffs.
IMHO, the real key is going to be going .500 against the Brewers in our 6 games against them. If we do that and don't completely suck against the Astros/Cards/Mets we should be fine. .500 against the Brewers and .500 against the Astros/Cards/Mets clinches, even if the Brewers win their other 9 games against the Phillies/Reds/Pirates.
I see no reason why clutch would exist in every other sport and not baseball. Certainly the effect is less in baseball since there's a pitcher you have to hit, but it's obvious that some guys excel in high-pressure situations, both pitching and batting.
It's basically a scam investment group that they paid off Aaron to be associated with. One of those firms that will probably cut payrroll and milk the team for all it's worth. They just care about profit.
The big key to winning the division is going at least .500 the rest of the way, and especially in the Brewers series. If we can at least split those 6 games in that series, the math starts getting a lot better.
With their schedule, i wouldn't put it past the Brewers to finish that way. 40 games left means what, 18 starts for Sabathia? 19 games left for Brewers with teams over .500 2 more games @ LAD 2 games @ InBev Stadium v.s. Cards 3 games v.s. Houston 3 games v.s. Mets 3 games @ Philly 6 games with Cubs Cubs have 27 games left with teams over .500 2 more games @ FL 4 v.s. Philly 6 v.s. Houston 6 v.s. Cards 6 v.s. Brewers 3 @ Mets Cards have 21 games left with teams over .500 2 v.s. Brewers 3 games at Houson 7 with Arizona (3 away/4 home) 3 v.s. Marlins 6 games with Cubs
Best part of the game was the epic "Paper, Rock, Scissors" game in the bleachers between World Series of Poker Champ Phil Hellmuth and a fan (each put up $100). It was hilarious.
You can't trust Howry because he's the only arm in the pen that's not a converted starter Cotts, Gaudin, Marmol, Marshall, and Wood have all started ML games (and the last 4 have been pretty good starters) That leaves Shark, who was starting in AAA.
They're doing well this year, but if Lou hadn't come around to the fact that OBP is important they'd still be clueless. Cuban's very much a SABR guy, so the "Red Sox of the NL" is a good analogy.
