  1. Not enough lefties, should have started Baker & Travis Wood.
  2. Should be safe then... the umps doing the reviewing aren't in Pittsburgh.
  3. and we go to extras and hope for a Bonifacio inside-the-park HR
  4. Would be real nice to get some runs in the Top of the 8th.
  5. You can't challenge after the 6th inning. So it's kind of a use it or lose it thing.
  6. I had the same thought and it seems like that is what he is suggesting. Well, there's going to be some significant revenue increases just from: - WGN TV deal expiring after this year (They will get more $$$ for that package of games even if they don't get a massive TV deal) - I presume the Jumbotron & ads would be up ASAP whenever they go forward with the Wrigley renovations.
  7. This could be a pretty fun team to watch with Olt & Kalish rising from their prospect graves.
  8. Olt with another error, think he's going to Iowa :(
  9. Baez is now tied for the spring training league lead in HRs.
  10. The pen is really shaping up to be strong. Let's hope they don't get over-worked too early. I'm much more optimistic about this team than I was this winter. I think they will struggle mightily to score runs, but I think they will be in most ball games. The starting pitching is awfully blah, and the offense is a serious challenger for the worst in the league. I want to believe, but it's hard. If Rizzo and Castro can bounce back (I can't see them being any worse), the offense looks much different. I'm also a fan of Ruggiano. They are going to be severely OBP challenged. I guess Olt is the wildcard here but if he can't throw the ball, it's moot. Might be a job for Ryan Kalish
  11. Alcantara and Vogelbach are also on the Vegas roster
  12. We should just renovate Wrigley all in one year and play our games in Mesa during that time frame.
  13. We lose 13-0 welp, we can only get better from here
  14. It's a split-squad game for Arizona, not the Cubs
  15. We're going to be hearing a whole lot of "Wrigley Field at Corporate Plaza," I imagine. And cool for them. We need enough revenue to paper over Ricketts' incompetence and Epstein's indifference. I'm willing to rename it Corporate Field if it means even more money. It's not like the current name is something noble... it's named after a chewing gum magnate.
  16. Apparently our offense is so bad they're giving us 4-out innings in the scrimmage to make it fair. (not really, just for pitch count purposes)
  17. The food options in the minors are pretty brutal. Really odd that teams don't spend more on nutrition at those levels. [expletive] yeah jed and theo here's our next market inefficiency Should a minor league system nutritionist + whatever they need to make sure the team gets fed quality food when they're at the parks/on the road, clubhouse stocked with healthy snack options. Everyone knows what they should be eating and healthy options to maximize their performance, blah blah. I'd probably have 2 strength & conditioning coaches per team and a dedicated speed coach for the minor league system.
  18. https://twitter.com/superjt11 Wow Baez messed up this kid's car bad
  19. I'm pretty sure that scoreboard rumor is complete BS. Someone in the Cubs organization would have to approve the scoreboard design before they built it and installed it. Also the bottom of the Cubs Park scoreboard is meant to invoke Wrigley's scoreboard as opposed to Scottsdale's.
  20. Beyond our financial advantages over the Brewers (once Tom Ricketts isn't poor anymore), the main difference is we already have Castro/Rizzo locked up through their prime years. They should both be good regulars even if they don't become superstars.
  21. Cubs 1st ever win over the Yankees. On the main feed of FOX so it was basically the fantasy WS matchup every Cubs fan had been dreaming of. Wrigley was rocking.
  22. I presume they're more worried about the rooftop owners getting a stay blocking construction then actually losing the case.
  23. The big key this year will be getting off to a good start.... seems like we've had absolutely awful starts the past few years in April. With 2 wild cards, if you're .500 you're probably going to be in the race at the deadline.
