  1. I guess those games of slap and tickle in the Yankees clubhouse can get out of hand.
  2. Let the jokes flow freely. From Rotoworld.
  3. I was just think that he looked pretty good too. around 44 SB in 600 AB at AAA? The guy knows how to take a walk too (up through Oaklands' system). I've seen a lot of people here complain about defense and speed, but they have been pretty undervalued for the last couple of seasons (just look at Oakland's lineup, which reflects this). I was kind of POed that the new Cubs kick for speed and defense pushed walker out, but beyond that, it's a good thing.
  4. Thank you, Bruce Miles. I feel the exact same way. Nothing has changed. This is no time and there is no reason to panic. Lets just get behind Ronny now. No one is panicing. Some, including myself, are just saying that we're in a bad position in regards to our starting SS.
  5. It has nothing to do with Koronka. It's that we have six middle infielders on the active roster and something has to give. And it better not be Walker. Does it make sense to then acquire another MIF via trade?
  6. Well, I guess that explains Koronka's presence in ST over the last week. source: rotoworld We got another second baseman! http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/freddie-bynum.shtml http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/K/john-koronka.shtml
  7. Ah, hell. I'll join in on the fun, too. Care to wager on that? I don't wager, ever. Well........I *did* bet on the Marlins on games 6 and 7 and won about 1,500 bucks. Almost never. It's a feeling, based on past history with how our starter's injuries tend to go. No Cubs fan should ever talk to you again. [-(
  8. \ Bull. I'm sure my judgement is a little clouded because of my Cedeno bias, but Ronny has ABSOLUTELY deserved to be given the starting SS job. Although his overal MiLB performances weren't much to be desired, he came of age last year at a tough position, allthewhile being younger than his peers. Once he was called up, he continued to impress, even in spite of the fact Dusty wasted valuable ABs on Neifi when the season was already "over". He then continued his hot hitting into winer ball. What more do you want this kid to do? Come out of the box hitting 10 homers in spring? I think a lot of his poor performance can be chalked up to pressure and being tired from playing baseball conistently over the last year. IMO, what it all comes down to is that Neifi is a mid-30s veteran who will NEVER get better. He will play great defense while being a black hole at the plate. Ronny on the otherhand, is 22 years old, has tons of potential, and has his best days ahead of him. If the Cubs/Dusty don't **** with him, he'll do just fine, but it doesn't help matters when Dusty doesn't keep his idiotic mouth shut. The last thing this team needs is for him to derail another promising career. What promising career has Dusty derailed? Dubois?
  9. The only way Pie should be traded if he nets us someone like Cabrera (not happening) or Pierre isn't shown the door (NOO!). I'd love to have Pie in CF in '07. Pie in a corner OF spot is a flat out waste.
  10. This isn't the Catholic church and a devout Catholic we're talking about. Criticism of a sportswriter isn't going to get you sent to hell.
  11. Player Team Projected VORP Eric Reed FLO -3.6 Willy Taveras HOU 4.6 Cory Sullivan COL 5.5 Kenny Lofton LAN 11.7 Juan Pierre CHN 13.4 awesome. sign that man to an extension, pronto.
  12. We need to let Pierre walk, especially if he thinks the market for leadoff hitters is going to get him mad loot like Furcal. Murton, Pie, someone not named Jones from left to right across the OF, please.
  13. That list is long, but distinguished... (some one finsh it! Its a Kevin Foster fastball over the middle! ) It'd be even longer if I knew we were signing Pierre to an extension. Why can't Felix play RF? He showed enough XB power last year and this spring to show that he could be a pretty good corner OF if he puts it all together. But I'll take any of those first 10 guys too, after that I don't. Why can't he? His power is questionable. He also starts to rack up the Ks when he swings for the fences. I'd rather have him in CF, where plus speed, a good arm (assuming he improves his accuracy), and moderate power are a big time advantage over most teams CF. Stick the same production in RF and he's average at best. Why devalue your own cheap homegrown talent? I'd take any of the arms I listed over an OF with Pie's ability, especially considering the trade and FA markets for starting pitching right now and in the future.
  14. The Braves have done it better than the A's and for longer. Two completely different methods of building the mouse trap. I don't know of any reason why they both can't work, but one thing is for sure, we don't have the organizational talent/philosophy that the Braves do (not referring to players, but that's true too). We promote too fast and don't accurately assess young talent.
  15. That list is long, but distinguished... (some one finsh it! Its a Kevin Foster fastball over the middle! ) It'd be even longer if I knew we were signing Pierre to an extension.
  16. now it's Cards vs. Mets :(
  17. prospects I'd trade Pie for: young upton wood hermida drew liriano billingsley verlander milledge cain fielder kendrick jackson saltalamacchia quentin markakis lester tulowitzki pelfrey papelbon bailey
  18. And you are an idiot. PERIOD! I will absolutely NOT blame Dusty Baker for this if it happens. That man gave all the opportunities in the world to Ronny Cedeno. He fricking GAVE him the job outright, and told him to relax. What does Ronny do? He lays eggs at the plate and commits 4 errors in the field in the spring! He doesn't deserve the job if he's going to commit errors like that. I want Ronny to succeed badly. Awesome skills, and a lot of potential. But I want to win too. And let's just get this straight now. NEIFI. PEREZ. IS. NOT. THAT. BAD! Now shut up and learn a little bit about baseball. Wow. I agree with your points, but tone it down dude.
  19. I agree. That's pretty lame how Prior opened up a little and got burned. Azz.
  20. I would to. Maybe I didn't phrase it properly. My offense would have probably kept Nomar at SS unless Cedeno was the real deal and Murton faltered. Nomar was done as an everyday SS. That's the scouts consensus opinion around MLB. He wasn't a stud defender to begin with and his latest injury really hurt his defensive abilities.
  21. Pena vs. LHP: .291 .345 .536 .881 Nixon vs. RHP: .288 .364 .483 .847 What's not to like about that?
