  1. How long have you been a Cubs fan? Ten Minutes? yeah, since 2003. [/sarcasm]
  2. my list: 1. sign an impact bat in the OF (via FA or trade) 2. solid starting pitcher acquisition (Millwood, Weaver type) 3. beat the meaning of OBP into Dusty's empty skull
  3. I see your point.
  4. Because we have Kerry Wood. Why put ourselves in the same mess we did this year? Back up plans are necessary. Be prepared and all that jazz.
  5. it's amazing how high murton vaulted this year. no way was he top 10 at the start of this season (maybe top 15).
  6. Too much whining in clubhouse = No world series. :D
  7. this team is going no where fast. i can't wait to see how Hendry will mess this offseason up. :x no giles, no leadoff hitter, trade walker for something we don't need, and put together another stellar OF remeniscent of the great '05 cubs...oh, and my personal favorite, resign Neifi F. Perez and Macias. i wanna be an A's fan!
  8. Seriously, what did Baker do right this year? Bat DLee 3rd? lol
  9. What about a lack of sample size? 5 innings? with how many walks? i'm sorry, my opinion may be tainted by memories of watching him throw the ball in the general direction of the plate, every time he got in the game, without having any success in the strike zone. I think I only saw JVB pitch once, and don't remember him being that awful with control. Sure he had 8 walks in 5 innings, but it's 5 innings! One bad outing if you're a starter. It's basically nothing when evaluating JVB going forward. Now he has historically walked more guys then I'm comfortable with(around 3.6-3.7 per 9 IP), but that doesn't mean he should be buried because of 5 bad innings. He walked 9 batters in 6.0 IP (3 strikeouts).
  10. i feel the same way, but i have a feeling i'll be here just the same. :(
  11. I still love his D most of all. He bailed us out of so many crappy throws from the rest of the infield.
  12. thanks to Baker you'll make the playoffs. why don't you guys pay his salary? he certainly hands you the WC often enough. :x
  13. Steroid user or no, Sammy doesn't have what it takes to be a starting OF on any major league team for the price he'll want. Japan? Let's hope not. I think Sammy is too proud for that. He might also be too proud to retire...and too proud to accept the league minimum (which is all he's worth). Quite the conundrum...
  14. The Cubs are spending more money and Kent played for Baker. Kent doesn't seem to care about the paycheck or his teammates. Winning certainly does matter to him. Personally, I like that attitude, but that's not our team's attitude. Kent may like Baker, especially since he was in a little hot water over some supposedly racial comments and Baker stood by him, but that's not the same as wanting to play for Baker. I can just see Kent ripping ARam a new one once a game for not hustling. Maybe that's what this team needs. Baker certainly isn't getting it done. I'd love to have Kent, but I just don't see it.
  15. If Kent wasn't happy with the outcome in LA, why would he come to the Cubs, perennial underachievers and choke artists that we are?
  16. I'm starting to think that JH needs to hit the road along with Dusty, Neifi, Macias, and Patterson. Forget Spring Training, let's go with Spring cleaning. We're going to trot out almost the same team next year and hope injuries don't kill us yet again.
  17. Three words: Clemens, Pettite, Oswalt. Two words: Dusty Baker.
  18. I voted for Low Team OBP, but my main complaint is Neifi Perez being anywhere but the bench or another team.
  19. love the plate discipline guys. love it.
  20. patterson just swung at some of the worst pitches of the day. sliders waayyy off the plate. geez.
  21. hahaha, DLee got the grounder and was like "Bleep you, Wuertz."
