If I'm Hendry and that offer is made, I collect my things, extend a middle finger and walk away without saying a word. That is absolutely ridiculous. i'm not even that high on Pie, but i agree with you. sit on it and spin, larry.
I like Bradley too, but nothing about Hendry's actions would lead me to believe he'll take a risk on a problem child, no matter his potential production.
well, hawkins got $11M/3 years. considering the market i don't see how that is too out of line. hawkins back in the day was better than howry, still...
Yeah, but people here get criticized for saying the same things that person in the article is saying. Sometimes Hendry can do no wrong in the eyes of some. The only way to say something on this board without getting criticized is to not say anything at all. There are at least as many members that feel Hendry can do no right as there are who think he can do no wrong That's ridiculous. Thank you. Brown-noser!
Seconded. There's absolutely no player in baseball I would trade Z for apart from maybe Pujols and we all know the Cards wouldn't make that deal. thank god it will never happen.
he says he wants to play closer to home (Chicago really isn't a whole lot closer than SF). i'm not sure what chicago could offer besides money (and he'll have several competitive offers).
I'll just randomly repeat the quote above in case it gets lost anywhere in this thread. Look at those numbers closely. he can play many positions. versatility, man, versatility!
I also do get the sense that Hendry feels Juan Pierre can rebound from his not-so-good OBP in 2005. My sense is that he'd want Dusty to bat Furcal first and Pierre 2nd if he got both of them. Depending on the player cost for Pierre, I could support getting them both, but I think he'd get that batting order dead wrong. the order would be wrong, but it's world's better than having Neifi and Macias go 1-2. you have to take what improvement you can get with JH and Dusty.
Batting Furcal leadoff is a major upgrade over last year. I guess if we have to overspend to avoid another debacle like the '05 leadoff situation, it's worth it. Hendry could do worse, although he's still a moran!
I wonder what Hendry's take on the Dubois saga is? It certainly wasn't Dusty who wanted to platoon him in LF. You'd think the scout in Hendry has to be a little worried by Baker's love for vets. Why even have a farm system with Baker around? Trade pieces only?
