  1. What's the over/under on Colletti lasting longer, or not as long as Depo? I bet Depo is having a good laugh right now.
  2. I hadn't heard of him either, but he appears to be a pretty good prospect. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/jonathan-broxton.shtml Thanks!
  3. thanks for the news. i'm really curious to know what Pierre is going to bring in this market. I know this is going to drive everyone nuts but my guess would be Williams was offered.
  4. It actually wasn't the entire article but I get your point. Main points... 1) Mark Prior for Bobby Abreu. Will not happen. 2) "the only pitchers the Cubs are interested in trading are relievers or prospects. " 3) "minimal interest in Aubrey Huff to fill their right-field vacancy" 4) another quote - According to one team that inquired about Pie, the Cubs "don't have very many untouchables -- but he's one." I don't know how the Cubs can hope for a good OF bat w\o moving Pie but we shall see.
  5. Jason Stark on ESPN Admin comment: Please don't post copyrighted articles in their entirety, especially articles from a subscription site. Summing up the contents in your own words is best, but a few quoted excerpts are okay.
  6. Are you a Cubs fan or a Cards fan? No, I just like talking baseball. Sad I know.
  7. If I were a Cub fan I'd want to do this deal. Pierre is a servicable one year rental. Plus JH could stop with this "lead off hitter is my top priority" nonsense and focus on the Cubs real need - a big bat in RF.
  8. I would've called you crazy if you didn't think Burnett was getting 5 years in this market. Considering Chan Ho Park was the last pitcher to get a 5 year deal and Burnett's injury history I didn't think it was crazy. It's not like a lot of teams were throwing 5 yr deals at him - I believe the Blue Jays were the only one.
  9. fixed, and they might think about it I'm thinking more like Prior, Pie and Williams. No - I'm not joking.
  10. Give me a break, that's just ridiculous. First of all you have no idea what they would want. Secondly, the players they've traded away thus far are either very expensive or aging. Willis and Cabrera are neither. Again they don't need a bunch of Pinto/Nolasco type prospects. They'll want players who can be absolute studs. They've gotten enough quantity this winter, they want top end quality. Pie is really all we have that fits that mold. Not to mention florida has actually done quite well in all their trades prospect and payroll dump wise.
  11. hill, cedeno, and pie wouldn't even be close. Considering his contract Cabrera might be the most valuable player in baseball.
  12. I cannot imagine the type of package it would take to get one those guys. This just sounds like a weird rumor that isn't true.
  13. Just for that... Z + Boras + FA = Freaky Big Contract To The Yankees
  14. Since the other thread was locked... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=2249623 If you would have Burnett gets 5 years going in to the offseason I would have called you crazy.
  15. Why don't the Cubs just sign Lofton and just get it over with? I'm not saying he's great but he would make a lot of sense.
  16. I don't know how many people will agree, but I for one am glad that trade is false. I think most would agree. Maybe the point was we should stop talking about getting Abeu becasue thats the cost? An interesting trade offer would be Wood + good prospect for Abreu. Too bad Wood has a NTC. That's why if I were a GM I would never give those things out.
  17. Am I crazy or does that trade not seem all that wildly off if we offered more prospects? You are crazy. I already knew that. I'm following this team, aren't I? hah, yeah. Considering how much we care about this silly game we are all a little crazy. Anyway, to get Dunn and Wilkerson you are going to have to give up something that hurts - I think.
  18. Am I crazy or does that trade not seem all that wildly off if we offered more prospects? You are crazy.
  19.   The Mariners are beyond stupid. Who knows anymore. Heck I still can't believe Burnett can get 5 years considering his history.
  20. On rotoworld: The Tacoma News Tribune is also reporting that the Mariners have offered Kevin Millwood $44 million over four years and says the two sides could be close to a deal. The deal may include an option for a fifth year and added incentives. Just one year ago, Millwood signed a deal that guaranteed him $3 million. If the Mariners thought he was such a good bet to stay healthy, where were they then? Dec. 6 - 12:10 am et 4\40 for Burnett will not get it done.
  21. Any other sources to comfirm this?
