  1. I was just on another message board where they were advocating trading Aram for Miggy. Someone told me I was dumb when I posted that Aram was a better hitter. That's actually an interesting trade idea. I don't know if it makes sense for the Cubs but the player exchange is interesting.
  2. There is a 3 yr diff - but yeah maybe I made a mistake there. How about I bump Z out for Oswalt because... well... I hate Z and I'm petty.
  3. This list considers age... LF Jason Bay SS Alex Rodriguez (move hm back) 1B Albert Pujols RF Vladimir Guerrero 3B Miguel Cabrera (move him back) 2B Michael Young (move him back) CF Grady Sizemore C Victor Martinez SP1 Johan Santana SP2 Dontrelle Willis SP3 Carlos Zambrano SP4 Jake Peavy SP5 Joe Blanton That my friends would be sick.
  4. What makes you think Jeff Weaver will sign a contract like that? Did Scott Boras just get hit by a bus? Relative to the other FA pitchers, he's a bargain. He's already gotten his "big" contract, played it out, and never really put the bust label behind him. Everything that's been reported on him this offseason has him below market value. Huh? When has Boras had a guy sign "below market value"? I say he gets atleast 3/27.
  5. There's a difference between ANY prospect and the 4 best, 2 days after trading your only other close to the majors talent. The Cubs create a hole in the rotation (and backup in the rotation), and still haven't filled their biggest hole. Now they have $12M less to fill them with. sign clemens for a year. :D Hell, we don't need 5 aces - look who the cardinals had at the back of their rotation the last couple of years. Yea, it may hurt long-term, but do you really think any of those four are going to be irreplaceable long-term? Do you think a team that feels compelled to trade a 2.5 player like Walker is going to see the value of young players? With this management, go for it now. Perhaps we can get some A ball arms in return. That's why I'm torn. I wouldn't be upset about that deal. But it wouldn't put this team over the top. I think it would Raw - it would almost certainly put the cubs in the playoffs and I'd take my chances from there. Ok, we still need healthy pitching but that is a must in any scenario. That's a pretty good and balanced lineup. Tejada isn't dunn but with a producer 1-8, you are going to score some runs. I would go: Pierre Walker Lee Ramirez Tejada Bradley Murton Barrett What do you trade bradley for?
  6. You gotta love it when the face of your franchise wants out.
  7. Are you reading this thread at all? IMO he's in shock that Walker is even being compared to Tejada. Walkers a nice player and underappreciated but I have Tejada in the same class a Abreu and Dunn and Walker is far below that IMO. I see the numbers that have been thrown out there and having a 300/35 HR guy at SS is a luxury I would like the Cubs to have. We just differ on how we would make this team better in this case. Tejada isn't even close to Abreu and Dunn. Both those guys are consistently over a 900 OPS, Abreu 1000. Tejada in his best year in his prime couldn't get to 900. I agree they generate more run however because miggy does play SS his VORP was higher...
  8. A quick glance at his stats doesn't seem to indicate a consistant history of platooning. Could you provide details? Because it seemed like he sat a lot against leftys.
  9. Has anyone said this? I know that I've said Walker is close to being as good as Tejada, but I never said he was better, and I don't think anyone else has. Think Baltimore would take him for Tejada? Throw in anyone else also? I know what the answer from Baltimore would be-HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. OK, stop trolling
  10. Because he isn't really that great of an offensive player. We got slightly less production from Walker last year that we would probably get from Tejada this year. Just because he plays a positon were offense is scarce doesn't mean we should overpay for him, especially if it is possible to upgrade more cheaply at another position. What were his numbers last year? No way is he comparable to Walker. Tejada last year: 304/.349/.515/.864 Walker last year: .305/.355/.474/.829 Try RBI's and HR's. Selective use of numbers is meaningless. NO ONE in baseball would try to equate Todd Walker being the equal to Tejada. i can guarantee that if walker played a full season batting third he would have 100 rbis and 20 home runs. home runs aren't everything, their SLG should tell you that No it doesn't show me that. History shows that he hasn't. Projecting numbers is a wonderful fantasy, but history shows he hasn't done that and won't. History shows you that they are separated by .26 in career OPS. I really don't see what else you need. Walker in a full season batting against lefty pitching.

And yes I know for the first time in his career last year he hit leftys well but still this should be considered.
  13. I doubt they would want to make a "rebuilding" type trade. What do they possibly have to compete now with the Yankees, Red Sox and even Jays? This team needs to be rebuilt the right way and Tejada would give them a lot of bang for the buck. I agree, I think they should rebuild however I don't think they see it that way.
  14. I doubt they would want to make a "rebuilding" type trade.
  15. Tejada had the 12th highest VORP (at 70) in baseball last year according to BP...
  16. I think they would want more of an impact player. They are not looking to dump $$$.
  17. Would you guys trade Prior for Miggy? I know everyone would like to trade some young bullpen arms but to get him you'd have to give up something that hurts. So... Yes or No.
  18. With his very fair contract I cannot imagine what he might bring.
  19. Please don't exaggerate. I've told him that a million times. Aside from the fact that that comment is quite condescending, I dont think you have. I believe that was a joke - "I've told him that a million times." is exaggerating.
  20. not to worry, you can enjoy aaron miles on your own club now! Haha, oh god - that was so wrong.
  21. Theo who? The Sox are havnig a nice offseason with 3 good trades.
  22. If God is a Cardinal fan why haven't we won a friggin' World Series in the last 23 years?
