I don't see how anything than happened on that field warrants even remote praise. That half was garbage for multiple reasons. Wondo is useless unless he's finishing, and his try-hard crap isn't going to work when all the other players on the other team start playing hard in June. Jozy is just bereft of confidence, MB has nobody to combine with, Bedoya has nobody to pass to, Besler and Cam haven't remotely been challenged. Its been a total waste. I don't care if JK uses his 6 subs and we win 4-0; we're not getting 6 subs next month. Just ugh.

Yeah, there's not enough attacking quality on the field to deal with a parked bus like this. Wondo and his Eckstein-like hustle aren't helping link play worth a damn. ArJo is the Deuce clone in a meaningful game. Jurgen knows that. He's hurt too at the moment and out of form, so that's good.

This whole game is just annoying the piss out of me. The crowd, the Dempsey thing, Wondo blowing two clear, free headers, the wind, the complete lack of quality that the opponent has. This is the opposite of a useful test.

I did not realize the bomb pop uniforms were solid red on the back to go with red shorts. Not sure how I feel about this yet. I actually bought one of the bomb pops a couple weeks ago. It grew on me. Also my daughter thought it was hilarious that it looked like a bomb pop and I acquiesced . I'm sticking with the heroin-in-the-forehead plan until I see him on the field. Groin injuries linger; Schapp was saying it's been bugging him for 2 weeks, which begs the question why he was going balls out in practice yesterday.

Bedoya's work rate has really won me over through the last year. I couldn't stand him in the past, but I've warmed to the idea of him locking down one side of the field. I don't mind the posted projected alignment, but I'd honestly prefer Cameron replacing Jones and Gonzalez at CB. I think Cam is a better #6 than Jones. I don't like Cameron playing RB, and I rather like FJ playing RB.

I don't see how any of those 3 goals were Crawford's fault. It seemed more the defensemen failing to execute basic fundamental parts of their job more than Crawford being bad. But yeah, they just look exhausted and out of ideas. It seems like LA have more guys on the ice than they do. -
I dunno. I do think Parkhurst would have been more useful than Brooks, who I think isn't near ready to play in a WC, and I really, really question the inclusion of Green on the roster. It seems clear that the roster spot was the price JK paid for getting his commitment to the team, because you don't take an 18 year old with less than 10 minutes of 1st team football to a World Cup without some compelling, non-soccer reason to do so. I do think, however, that if JK had his mind made up, it would have been better to pull an England, and announce your 23 man roster and 7 alternates right away, as opposed to going through the kabuki motions of a camp and then randomly cutting guys before the first friendly. USSF was caught off guard, too-Parkhurst had a Google + chat scheduled for the day after the cuts. The middle ground that JK took between announcing your 23 right away, and going through a full camp and friendlies seems like it gave him the worst of both options, as opposed to giving the appearance like it was a fair competition for spots.

Well, except in your spring training analogy, JK chose to bring Green (fewer minutes with Bayern than with the USMNT), Chandler (clearly uncommitted), Brooks (completely unproven) over guys with more proven NT track records. It would be like the Cubs deciding they were going to break camp this year with Baez, Bryant and Almora. The fact that the NT manager decided to make his cuts a week+ before necessary, and the fact that he wouldn't tell one of the guys why until "after the World Cup" is just poor man management.

Link to the story? Too lazy to look it up, I am, but Parkhurst basically said what Evans said; that JK had his mind made up prior to camp, and the cuts were handled in about 10 seconds randomly, and that he would have never come back to MLS from Germany had he known ETA: Goodson now chiming in as well. JK really fucked this up.

Marcelo's goal as about as unimpressive as Johannsson's goal agains Panama, when they were all crying on the field last year. He waltzed by a bunch of guys who couldn't move anymore and scored. And Ronaldo, who was invisible all game, fell down and was awarded a PK, and celebrated like it was a Golden Goal winner. Meh. Bale blew 3 clear, clear scoring chances, and thankfully for his sake put away a really tricky header. Sergio Ramos is a purse-carrying bitch. Di Maria was the best player on the field along with Gabi. Surprisingly exciting game. Irritating ending. It was nice to see CR7 running around on an injury for 120 minutes, though, from the USMNT perspective.

That kid is a [expletive], and ruined any chance JK has of plausibly denying that this wasn't personal. As a former teenager who liked to troll people and talk [expletive], if someone did my dad dirty and carried himself with the overall aloof bitchness that Landon has seemed to project, I would have totally tweeted that. I guess what I'm saying is that that tweet isn't Klinsmann's fault and if his reasons for leaving Landon off the team aren't entirely professional, that's fine with me. Landon probably deserves it. I don't care how bitter JK is about the Bayern stint, or the sabbatical. You cannot convince me that LD isn't a better bench option than Brad Davis.

The press conference scheduled for today is going be interesting. I hope our "media" find their collective balls and ask JK some tough questions.

Johannsson? He's not the hold up guy that Jozy is, but compared to Wondo.. I see him more as Clint's backup, but he's coming off a knee injury and a season where he was overworked by AZ so he's not exactly in peak form either. I'd definitely have more faith in him than Wondo, but that isn't saying much. Our forward line looks really iffy outside Clint and Jozy. None of the rest of the attacking options sans Mix really inspire confidence. I suppose JK would probably have the option to move Clint up front and drop AJ or Mix in that spot as well. ETA: JK's job wasn't made easier by EJ acting like a jackass and then playing poorly to start the season. EJ and Boyd were the most like-for-like options to back Jozy up. Now he's cut one and didn't even call in the other.

Lost in the LD stuff, is that there's also no actual backup for Jozy on the 23. If he gets hurt, and we have to trot Wondo out in a game we need to win, I'm going to drink myself to death before kickoff of whatever game it ends up being.
