  1. Juan Pierre is the poster child for overrated players. His OPB is severly reduced by his stealing percentage, and he's having a bad year. Just say ney
  2. The lineup is out, and Barrett, Perez and Hollandsworth are all in it per the score.
  3. From what I'm hearing, that's not enough. OBrien is really playing up the fact that he doesn't have to trade Dunn. It's believed they can work Dunn into the budget for next year. He does realize he will likely get more for him now that at any other time, but he's asking for a lot! Hill and Mitre haven't proven enough yet and Patterson's value is at his lowest. Okay, here's my package: Murton, Patterson, Mitre, Dopirak and Aardsma for Dunn and Weathers. Does that sound like it would work, Vance?
  4. The problem with Kyle was always that he was good early, which caused Baker to lean on him too much (similar to how Wuertz has been used hard this year), use him in 8 out of 10 straight games, and then he'd wear down by July or August. I wish we had Kyle, personally. He'd look very good in the 8th inning before Dempster.
  5. thats one of the things that always confuses me- all the (seemingly) random letters. i know some of the more basic ones but others ive forgotten, or never knew. is there like a baseball glossary of some kind online? along with whats quoted above, whats WHIP, LHIP, RHIP or whatever? and anything else you'd like to throw in OPS is slugging plus on base percentage (OBP). I think you calculate OBP by: walks plus hits/PA(plate apperances)

  7. Milton edges out Beltre, but both were godawful decisions by the GM's. Beltre had a fluke year and Milton was never very good.
  8. Jeff, Thanks for taking the time to talk to our community! My question is this: How mich longer do you feel your father will continue to broadcast on the radio? How difficult is it for him to travel with the team for the duration of the season? Thanks!
  9. I think Griffey serves as a draw for the GAB and the Reds. I'd think they would want to trade one or the other, but not both, and probably not to the same team. Besides, Griffey is owed a ton of money. I wouldn't want Dunn if it meant taking Griffey and hindering our options budget-wise.
  10. You have to like intensity, even in an 11-1 game...
  11. How on earth does McClendon still have his job?
  12. just wait til Z goes on Sunday....if McClendon wants to start throwing at our hitters, he picked the wrong staff to do it against...
  13. Mark Cuban is hilarious. "I love Chicago...All the drunks out on the street and in the bars...nothing better" HA! Pat and Ron are cracking up.
  14. Who cares? Nothing wrong with showing some personality at the plate. Lee does sort of a half hop, Burnitz tends to stand there for a second during his follow through, ARam flips his bat. No big deal, at all. I disagree. Ramirez lingers much more than the rest. It has nothing to do with personality, unless your personality is hey look at me I'm great. I love the guy, but would like to see a little less of that stuff. I don't think he lingers more than Bonds, Griffey, Sosa, Edmonds...I just don't really have a problem with it. If he was a .250 hitter, it might be different in my mind. To me, it's no more offensive than spiking a football. And if opposing pitchers take offense, they can police it.
  15. Who cares? Nothing wrong with showing some personality at the plate. Lee does sort of a half hop, Burnitz tends to stand there for a second during his follow through, ARam flips his bat. No big deal, at all. Oh, I don't mind it at all. If you KNOW it's gone, I don't care if you do cartwheels to first base. But ARam has been catching heat for the bat flipping lately, so I was curious if he was still doing it. I know B&B were complaining about it along with him not running out a flyball. That's funny, too, because they make fun of football fans who say things like "act like you've been there before" after touchdowns. Being a soccer fan, I enjoy personality and passion, and if a player crosses the line, the opposing pitcher can always throw one inside....
  16. Who cares? Nothing wrong with showing some personality at the plate. Lee does sort of a half hop, Burnitz tends to stand there for a second during his follow through, ARam flips his bat. No big deal, at all. One time, at a bar, I was doing my A-Ram bat flip and my arm hit a tray of beers and martini's the waitress was taking to our table. They smashed all over the ground. I am a complete idiot. That's hilarious

  18. It depends. Do the CSN and WGN deals go with them? On it's own, the baseball team is probably worth $650m
  19. I'm torn on Cuban. On one hand, he's ultra committed to winning, which I love. On the other, he's meddled so much with the day to day ops for the Mavs that's he's done serious harm to their ability to contend in the West. Meddling with his GM in baseball could be disasterous, since just spending money is not a formula for success. If I knew that Cuban would leave the baseball people alone, or hire the best baseball people to run the show, and all he'd do was pony up the extra cash when necessary, it'd be great.
  20. I thought he was decent in 2003. Light years better than McCarver.
  21. see, NOW murton bought himself a couple weeks on the bench.
  22. Nomar hasn't played a complete year since 2002. He's missed half the last 2 years. Paying him more than $3m plus incentives for more than 1 year is too risky.
  23. I think there are better ways to spend $3-5m than on Nomar. We tried it twice, it didn't work out for the same reason both times, it was a good try, but it's time to move on.
