  1. Welcome to the Forum!!! It's a tough call. I wouldn't mind seeing Nolasco get the callup if Wood is going to be out for a while. Or the Cubs can choose to put Rusch back into the rotation. I would probably still do this trade. I'm not that sold on Hill. I think they'd either call up Hill or have Mitre start. It'd be tough to call up Hill or Mitre if they were on the Reds. I'd only want to see Nolasco get a chance if Hill, Mitre, and Cpatt were traded. Is Nolasco on the 40 man?

  3. . I'm sure. Then a side session, then they'll skip him next turn, then a sim game, and then...who knows...but we all should know how Wood injuries go as far as the chronology by now. I'm sorry if this is coming across harshly, but I've lost patience with Wood. If he misses more than one start, I'll go ballistic.
  4. I think there is more to his ban than the false rumor. I think one of the mods implied this... Oh... I don't know what was said in the last 15 pages or so, aside from Bruce's comments, so I guess I missed something. It probably got lost in the shuffle of this mess of a thread. I could live without another Dunn thread until we actually get him

  6. Given that Hill was supposed to start tonight (i think), he's going to need to fill in for Kerry next turn. Maybe that can be his showcase start.
  7. Angel is hurt!!!!!! You dont say! Yeah, I know...it's shocking.
  8. Boy, Angel is going to give Kerry a run for his money in the oft-injured phenom olympics. I wish he'd get healthy enough for us to trade him. He's basically been ML ready since 2003, but he keeps getting hurt.
  9. Given the fact that Kerry might be shut down...again...it may make sense for Hendry to hold onto Hill. Perhaps he'd be willing to part with Nolasco. And may I also state that the fact that Angel Guzman is also hurt irritates the crap out of me.
  10. i like kerry, i want him to succeed here.... ...but if his latest shoulder causes him to miss any more time this season I'll be officially done with considering Kerry an integral part of the team. If you can't count on him, the fact that he's statistically a dominant pitcher is meaningless.
  11. Also consider if Baker wanted to give Hairston a day off, would you rather see Macias in CF and Burnitz in RF, or the lineup we have? No reason to panic tonight. Now, if Hairston sits again tomorrow, all bets are off. One ominous thing to consider: The last long winning streak we had, Baker started the same lineup essentially throughout. It was only after we won 7 in a row that Baker started feeling secure enough to screw with the lineup again...
  12. No it isn't. He has 324 career stolen base attempts and 86 CS. Thats 74%. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/profile?statsId=6550 I stand corrected. My math has always sucked...I apologize. I still don't want Pierre, though :P
  13. FYI, Pierre's career SB% is 64%. I possted this in the other Pierre thread.
  14. I would add Dopirak and not expect anything from the reds other than Dunn. I don't think Dope will pan out, so if selling him high means we get Dunn, then so be it. If I were to ask for someone extra, it would have been Weathers, but now he's hurt.
  15. I'm not saying the trade will happen, but we all know about Patterson's potential and Mitre And Hill probabily could start for the Reds now. Also, Mitre is a ground ball pitcher and Hill is a strikeout pitcher, both would help in Great America Ballpark. Hill also gives up a lot of homeruns, which would be bad in the GAB
  16. Dempster's career walk rate is probably the reason.
  17. 50% Nomar is 100% better than a healthy Perez. Neifi is not good and his good start is turning into a negative for this team because people think he can do it again and his season stats are skewed from it as well. I'm going to disagree here, because SS is a defensive position, and if Nomar is 50%, he'd absolutely murder us in the field. As aggravating as Perez is, defensively he's average.
  18. Very true - has he flat out lied like this before? Especially if a deal is in the making and in the immediate future? "Sosa will be our starting RF"
  19. Especially considering that they don't *have* to trade him.
  20. The Yankees have some decent A and AA prospects. As you noted, however, the main motivation would be to get out of that contract, and for a franchise like Cincinatti, that's as good as a top prospect. In regards to Kearns, I think that he value is as such that O'Brien, were he competent, could get one good pitcher out of it. I'd be happy with that return if I were them, as I don't think Kearns is that good. I agree with you on Dunn; he's their best chance to get impact players, which is why the deal that is rumored here doesn't make sense for them. I don't think Mitre and Hill are impact players, and I think we'd have to give up one really good prospect in addition to the players involved to get it done. Think Dopirak. Which I would do, since I don't think much of Dopirak to be other than perfect trade bait.
  21. I'm skeptical that the Reds would want Hill instead of a pitcher who wouldn't suck in their ballpark. As much as I think of Hill, he would be bludgeoned in that park. Then again, they signed Eric Milton, off of whom half the posters here could probably go deep given 4 AB's, so what do I know. I don't think that deal gives Cinci enough, unless they plan on dealing Dunn, Kearns AND Griffey to rebuild their staff. That's what I would do if I were the Reds. Deal all 3, because you'd probably end up with an entire starting staff by the time you were done, and none of those guys are going to help the Reds contend.
  22. Hendry's not going to come out and say that he expects very little from Nomar. It would send the wrong message to Nomar, and to potential trading partners. I thought the interview was pure vanilla. Nothing was said we didn't already know. Corey is a cub, Pie is good, Gerut can help, etc, etc.
  23. WOW! Great job, DJAXX and congrats, Tim!!
  24. Alou. Hands down (and washed). Griffey's contract gives albatrosses a bad name. Even the Yankees, desperate for CF help, didn't bite at Junior. As irritating as Alou could be, I have a part of me that feels that Moises really loved playing here, and really, really wanted to win here. It's hard for me to explain, since I wasn't a huge fan of him...Throw in the fact that his contract isn't awful, and there's really not much debate.
