    I think Prior really needs a 3rd pitch. With him, it's fastball/slider, and if he's missing his spots, he'll get hit. He doesn't vary his speeds on his non-breaking pitch. If he had an effective changeup to go with his command, he'd be a much more effective and efficient pitcher.

    Especially with the Astros winning 7-1. Assuming they hold on, if we win, we're only 5 back. Do you honestly think the Cubs have a chance? Mathematically it's difficult, but if we can *just* make it interesting at this point I'll take it. I don't expect it, but I'll be pleased if we can show some fight in these last 3 weeks.

    Not good. Murton came up twice with the bags loaded tonight and failed to drive anyone in. That doesn't bode well for him. We need this game.

    If Neifi were an RBI guy hitting 6th or 7th you could possibly make an argument that a high BA is more important than an OBP, on the basis that his role is to drive in the 3-4-5 hitters. However, Neifi bats 2nd too often, and his role should be to get on base in front of Lee, Ramirez, Nomar, Burnitz, etc. Thus, a higher OBP is better because it increases the RBI opportunities that our run producers have.

    I think Ronny's out for a few days at least with his hand. Why? or how? He got hit yesterday in the hand with a pitch, and left an inning later. X-rays were inconclusive, and he's getting checked out again tomorrow.

    Patterson's is worse. He has talent in there, Macias doesn't. Both suck right now.

    Murton hit a homerun, but was victimized by another baffling double switch. Hawkins coughed up the go ahead run in the 8th, and Baker + Macias + CPatt blew a 2 on 1 out chance in the 9th.

    Kelton is not on the 40 man and Fontenot would take precious time away from Perez and Macias. Hmm. That's right, he didn't have options out of ST... C'mon Corey, try not to wave and miss at one here...
