  1. Juan Pierre led the league in outs last year. This is bad for any player. It's especially bad for a guy who bats 1st.
  2. I'm not happy about Marquis wearing #21, but I did want to jump in and say that there's a world of difference between hoping Jason Marquis sucks, and expecting Jason Marquis to suck.
  3. At first glance I thought that said $35m over 2 yrs. Still, $12.5m for Arroyo is a lot.
  4. Carr would be a really, really interesting player to get. He and Berrian would have no issues, certainly. A competition between he and Grossman would be a very good thing. What are the things about Carr that makes them want to get rid of him? Doesn't he have a funky 3/4 type throw that bugs the experts? Texans fans are as stupid as they come. They blame Carr for the losing, when they should look at the total uselessness of the team around him, and the incompetence of their management.

  6. Jeff Garcia sucks. Winning the NFC East is no great accomplishment. That division was criminally overrated. Bears fans should be careful what they pine for if they clamor for Garcia. He's going to make them beg for Rex.
  7. What's your point? I'm not sure where you're going with this. How does playing Murton=losing?
  8. When they reduce the price of tickets for those games, that would be the day I would come to accept a forfeit game as acceptable. For some fans, that is the only game they may have an opportunity to see the team play in person. Another reason I'm glad Baker's gone.
  9. Izturis/Blanco/Ward/Pagan would be pretty bad. Extremely rare should be the day where ARam, Lee, Soriano, Barrett and Murton all don't start.
  10. Forfeit Lineups............ is that a new term?? I haven't heard it before but that is the best way to describe some of them................sadly. :) Forfiet lineups=a terrible joke of a lineup, usually thrown out there at the end of a series, or the day game after a night game on the road, featuring your entire bench starting, in a random mess of a lineup that couldn't possibly produce victory even if the starting pitcher throws a 2 hitter.
  11. you got this from pirates of the caribbean, didn't you? Admit it. No. It's simply a good word to use in this context.
  12. Despite the flaws on this roster-and there are some glaring flaws-I fully expect this team to contend. Not so much because it's a great collection of talent, but because the NL is so very bad. Much will likely hang on Piniella's (and Hendry's) ability to manage the roster. Will they allow Marquis to stay in the rotation by virtue of his stupid contract if he's terrible, and Guzman is ripping it up at Iowa? What about LF? Will Piniella value Murton or aquiesce to playing Floyd in a straight platoon? How much rope does Dempster get? Do they play Pie in CF? Jones in CF? Then there's the other stuff. Will we see forfiet lineups? A team that's poor at fundamental things like hitting the cutoff man and not getting picked off? Will he abuse his pitchers and leave them in past reasonable pitch totals? Will he be able to not only read a split sheet, but recognize things like reverse splits and sample size? As much as health, the great unknown remains Piniella.
  13. One positive thing Rex did do last night is move out of the pocket. Granted, he made a stupid decision on one occasion, but he did step up or sidestep the rush a few times, which is something he didn't do much during the season...
  14. Peytom Manning is probably a jerk to his teamates.
  15. Anyone catch Lovie's postgame comments?
  16. The worst thing about this game is that the 1985 Bears are going to keep being brought up over and over. I almost hate that team.
  17. That's unfair to him. He's not the reason they lost. This was a team loss, from coaches to offense to defense to special teams. Gould and Hester get to avoid blame, but everyone else has a equal share. it was a team loss but his 3 turnovers didnt help the defense wasant good by any means and more shouldve been done to keep them on the sideline so they could catch their breath Absoltely right. They didn't run well in the first half, but the playcalling in the 1st half was crap. Rex's mistakes came in the 4th, and one of them was the correct read, and a bad throw with a wet ball. The ball to Moose...that was crap, and Moose should have gotten him out of bounds.

  19. Given that I fully expected the Bears to be blown out, I suppose this is a minor victory. -Grossman played like a 1st year starter in the Super, in the rain. -The defense couldn't stop any 3rd downs, tied or not, and tackled badly. -Fumbles by Benson and Reed killed our momentum. -Manning and the Colts were just better. They took what the Bears gave them, all night, and fully deserved to win.
  20. Most of the media and Bears fans are morons, so I doubt they'll look at it objectively. He had a bad game, he's had several of them and several great games, enough glimpses of great games to merit seeing what he can do with more experience. He played terribly in the Super Bowl after whining about being criticized. Believe this like you believe in life itself: Rex is about to be crucified to all hell. Hell would seem pleasant compared to what's coming. I feel bad for him. He's not going to deserve the firestorm he's going to get.
  21. This is the same Ron Turner who guided my beloved UofI to a 1-11 record. Turner absolutely sucked tonight, but so did nearly every other facet of their game.
  22. This sucks. What a lousy night.
