  1. THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR NOT HAILING TO THE CHIMP!
  2. Isn't this just a pessismistic spin on the story that was run Saturday?
  3. Fair enough.
  4. Considering his shoulder is degeneratively arthritic, he's going to have to deal with injuries for a while. And it doesn't matter why he's bad. The fact that he's likely to be bad is grounds enough to want to see a better player at that position.
  5. No. You're wrong. or, the original point: I was never discussing who I'd rather have. I was discussing the fact that Izturis sucks, and providing examples to highlight that. Hence, the Neifi reference. Z was also referenced as well. The "I'd rather have Neifi" is hyperbole, used to highlight the level of Izturis' awfulness. If you can't defend your point, don't try and change my point to get out of the argument.
  6. And again, improvement from career numbers takes him from one of the worst regulars ever to simply well below average. But better than Neifi, which was the point of our conversation. Page 4 of this link. viewtopic.php?t=38595&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=45 No. The point of this conversation was to say how terrible Izturis is. I was using Neifi as perspective on his awfulness. Being better than Neifi isn't anything to write home about. Many metrics have Neifi in the team photo of worst regular ever. So basically, if he improves, he's slightly better than Neifi, but he's still terrible. How is that impressive or acceptable? This team has the payroll and the players internally to not have to deal with such a terrible everyday flaw in it's lineup. People can rationalize Izturis all they want. He's either going to suck, or suck and then get hurt. His glove isn't going to change his suck at the plate, and he'll be lucky if his hamstring and back and shoulder injuries don't take him from being a good defensive SS to a slightly above average one. And then what do you have? An expensive, crappy IF who can't stay healthy and can't get on base or slug.
  7. And again, improvement from career numbers takes him from one of the worst regulars ever to simply well below average.
  8. Also, what likely improvement? Any improvement on Izturis' part takes him from awful to below average, and that's not factoring in the fact that his injuries will likely affect his run-scoring glove. You can't continue to ignore these things. His being a starter is going to cost this team games, and this team isn't good enough to deal with a complete zero at SS. I'm going to post this again just so you don't miss it: Izturis' Career BA/OBP/SLG%: .259 .295 .336 Neifi's: Career BA/OBP/SLG%: .268 .298 .376
  9. One sort of good season isn't going to cut it. His career OBP is below .300. That's terrible. I'd rather have Neifi, and I hated Neifi. That's simply not a reasonable position to take. I'm not saying Izturis is some great option or anything, but he takes an unnecessarily high amount of criticism on this board for what he will likely be asked to do...be the #8 hitter and play great defense. Did you bother to look at the statistical evidence that shows Neifi to somehow be the superior offensive player? At his salary, Cesar Izturis should be expected to be better than he is. He's not. He's terrible. He's worse than Neifi on offense, and likely his equal with the glove.
  10. One sort of good season isn't going to cut it. His career OBP is below .300. That's terrible. I'd rather have Neifi, and I hated Neifi. EDIT: Izturis' Career BA/OBP/SLG%: .259 .295 .336 Neifi's: Career BA/OBP/SLG%: .268 .298 .376 Neifi's actually the better offensive player. That's pathetic. EDIT #2: Zambrano's Career BA/OBP/SLG% .212 .223 .355 His SLG% is higher than Izturis'. That's extra-pathetic.
  11. yeah, how dare Skiles allow them to score 12 unanswered! He should have told his team to, um, not do that! HUH? He should have, you know, not played Adrian Griffin in a key situation. Or even better, called a bloody timeout. sure, and the Bulls could have, you know, played defense Perhaps regrouping after a timeout would have helped.

  13. yeah, how dare Skiles allow them to score 12 unanswered! He should have told his team to, um, not do that! HUH? He could have, you know, called a timeout at any point in that run of play where he had a terrible team on the floor that couldn't execute a zone offense and couldn't block out, but he didn't. Anything that stops a runaway train of momentum would have been a good thing. Instead, he let a good team get back in the game with poor bench management and poor coaching decisions.
  14. This loss is on Skiles and his insistence at allowing Detroit to score 12 unanswered points to close out the 3rd quarter, as well as his inexplicable decision to play Adrian Griffin during the same period of time when Detroit was playing a 3-2 zone. Inexcusable coaching.
  15. Because all the hustle in the world won't make up for the fact that he makes consistently terrible decisions with the ball.
  16. Scott Skiles is a wildly overrated coach. No timeouts during a 12-0 run? Adrian Griffin in a game playing meaningful minutes? I don't care if Noc has no legs, Griffin shouldn't ever be on the floor unless it's garbage time.
  17. That was Lilly. Between the two of the Larry better not screw around. He'll get beat down outside the parking lot after the game.
  18. Keep in mind Izturis' injuries of late may have an appreciable effect on his defensive ability. That and he's beyond terrible with the bat. His offensive lack of production will offset any defensive benefits he'll possibly provide. What I'm saying is given our in house SS options, he's probably the 3rd best option in my world.
  19. Can I say that I'm extremely happy with Thabo, and wish he'd play more?
  20. He also took a swing at Rothschild when he came out and suggested he throw strikes.
  21. I've had nothing. No luck. No tickets.
  22. I still haven't gotten through. Stupid internets.
  23. Prior's gonna havta beat DLee for CPOY. Can you think of a race you'd enjoy more? Prior and Zambrano for Cy Young. Lee, Ramirez and Soriano for MVP. Cubs for 1st seed in the NL. Soriano Stolen Base title Barrett highest average with RISP Eckstein vs Podsednik vs Erstad for Champion of the Universe.
  24. Still can't get through...
  25. Which is odd to me since this core seems to be stuck in neutral in the land of mediocrity. I thought this team was supposed to be much better than a 6 seed. I'm not surprised; you were writing the team off in November. Gordon and Deng both have made signigicant strides this season. They'll be all-stars in a year or two, and the Bulls are 2 games out of the 3 seed with a relatively easy schedule to finish the season. Looking forward to seeing how it all shakes out. and they are scuffling, in part, because Nocioni isn't playing And because Ben Wallace has been bad.
