  1. Cool. Hope I end up near a host city when it rolls around.
  2. Video of the K swinging to end the 7th on the milb story http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20150910&content_id=148563052&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb
  3. After the Mexico game, that basically gives them a year until the hex to straighten things out. I think even getting 4th would be tough for squad that was in the GC / recent friendlies.
  4. I don't understand the sudden re-appearance of Orozco at 2 different positions in the last two matches. Bedoya alongside an out of shape Jones may work against Peru, but I wouldn't consider it in any real competition. What was Jones so pissed about when he left the game besides the godawful level of play? Altidore seemed to have a terrible touch on 4 out of 5 touches which were spaced out between long stretches of disappearing. I thought Williams pushed the tempo pretty well, Johannson had a few nice moments in limited action and Ream was the best of the back 4, which is not saying much.
  5. During halftime on the FS1 matches, you can see that Wynalda and Lalas are getting to the point of exasperation that most fans are at. It's pretty tiring that the commentary has to focus on player who is out of position that week or some player who got snubbed by Klinsmann.
  6. I caught some of that game. The three in the back was an interesting look for Toronto, but Osorio/Bradley both pushed forward at the same time a few times, left the back exposed and still and couldn't link up with the forwards. With the quality of subs Seattle has, they are very well equipped to close out games at home.
  7. Candelario now as a 21 year old in AA. http://i.imgur.com/iQEB5EU.png He, Contreras and Almora are really coming together as a nice wave.
  8. if it's lance barksdale, he's normally very good. fwiw, Krukow warned of his 'inconsistent corners' at the start of the SF broadcast and said he would be favorable to hitters.
  9. That might have been out at more than 2 parks
  10. Arrieta's specialty is the 4 strike strikeout.
  11. Hearing Kuiper and Krukow always takes me back to MVP baseball.
  12. At least in the current season, that shouldn't be a problem with CCL play and injuries. Evans' versatility is a huge strength as they try to fit the pieces together. I think the Sounders are one of a few teams adding the quality depth to compete in the MLS Regular Season, Open Cup and CCL all in the same year. Having teams put out solid rosters in all of those tournaments will be very good for the league.
  13. My feeling going into 2013 was that the FO made some attempt to compete, but failed in a lot of moves and opted to stockpile talent once the team went off the rails. At lot of things went wrong to put the team into tanking position, and it wasn't necessarily by design. For one, none of the Fujikawa, Jackson and Hairston signings worked out. Also, Garza started the year on the DL and Castro/Rizzo underperformed expectations. The FO did well in trading away the short-term assets for something of value, but treating that as the intention going into the year is giving them too much credit.
  14. I'd like to see Villanueva. He's had a good year, been good of late and adds a little power. I don't see much value in Sczcur if Fowler is healthy and Denorfia can fake it in center in a pinch.
  15. I just assume something like this is going to happen to LaStella as soon as he takes a hard swing. I find the music added to this clip to be hilarious.
  16. http://31.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mcnimz1hkx1qk960xo2_400.gif
  17. What a snag by Soler. Way to not tear a knee. Hunter time
  18. Bryant also has the 4th lowest Contact % amongst qualified hitters at 65.6% and 3rd lowest Z-Contact (75.6%). He's particularly bad in the bottom part of the zone and pitchers have been taking advantage.
  19. I suspect Wada is going to end up replacing Russell. Russell has had a nice season, but Wada is the most stretched out and competent SP option if anyone goes down, so I can't see him being released. If that is the plan, then I think Russell is a DFA candidate, and it can be done for Richard to avoid the short bench situation. Given LaStella's issues on the last, he probably just gets stays on rehab until rosters expand. If he's ready before that, Herrera may get demoted for a week. LaStella will also need a 40-man spot since he's on the 60-day DL, but someone like Schlitter can be painlessly removed once the spot is needed.
  20. Geiger got rushed by the Panama squad as soon as the whistle blew. Didn't really see what happened, but I wonder if any suspensions will come out of this.
  21. That's a GD joke.
  22. While incredibly disappointing, this result is not too shocking. This team needs to do better against teams that bunker and counter, both offensively and defensively. I'm lukewarm on the competitive successes of the Klinssmann era - winning the hex, beating Ghana, Gold Cup win over Panama. None of those outweigh the way this tournament went and there needs to be a change if there is going to be improvement.
  23. Only thing I can think of is less chance of a K. Denorfia is close to 19% career against RHP. Have to think the weak contact chances for Herrera outweighh that, though.
  24. At least got it around to the meat of the lineup for the 9th. This is pretty frustrating.
