  1. Montero would not have been able do anything with that one.
  2. Jeez, that was probably strike 2. Strop's got this.
  3. I think they'll take it seriously. It doesn't interfere with the CONCACAF qualifying at least, and CONMEBOL probably won't schedule too closely, either. There's no other tournaments around that time, so it won't be like CONCACAF teams getting invited to the usual Copa America right before/after the Gold Cup. With that roster, I have to think it'll be Brooks and Gonzalez starting, maybe with an eye towards Honduras and their big forwards.
  4. Hilarious play aside, that was a pretty fun one to watch. Rimando and Melia each made some really nice plays in goal. It was a little disappointing that the Zusi/Feilhaber/Nemeth/Dwyer attack couldn't put together more. Bright side of the Feilhaber non-call up is that SKC doesn't get completely decimated in July.
  5. So, does he start against Honduras in the first game of the Gold Cup after 3 weeks off? With the way Bradley has been playing in the attack and the return of Jozy, I wouldn't mind Dempsey coming in as a sub with Zardes getting the start.
  6. That game was absolutely crazy at the end. The Seattle fans lost their cool and ended up throwing things at the Timbers/Officials, not good. MLS won all 9 matches yesterday (a couple of PK close calls for San Jose and Philadelphia, Sounders 2 choked away a lead against RSL). Cosmos are the only NASL team left, but I think they have the better shot than any USL team of advancing since they are playing NYCFC. Charleston against Orlando, Richmond against Columbus could also pretty likely produce some upsets. Also, it's pretty cool that you can watch these live on the US Soccer Youtube channel. Hope that continues through all rounds.
  7. Thanks for the detailed write-up, Duke. I really like reading the first-hand accounts when people post them.
  8. Woo, good win and close to the series with the day off tomorrow.
  9. Strop will come in to K the side if there's any trouble, don't worry.
  10. If you still view Rondon as the better pitcher, then this move still makes sense. Rondon facing Rendon/Ramos/Demsond while Strop gets Moore/Taylor/Zimmerman. Heck, with the 3 run lead still in tact, Strop might not even be the sure option.
  11. That Harper out was almost exactly the same as his pop up that got carried out by the wind at Wrigley.
  12. I like this Washington broadcast team from what I've heard so far. It's a traditional approach, but they are observant, insightful and give a lot of credit to the Cubs' players where it's due.
  13. The Cardinals are also a good defensive team. It's expected that their starters will outperform their FIP as long as that's the case.
  14. The U20's are through to the group stage after beating NZ 4-0. I've read that Zealem, Rubin and Hyndman looked really good together.
  15. Last two posts appear to be both more accurate than what I initially said. From what I can tell after spending a little more time looking at the records, for the 3617/3619 property, the property was conveyed to 3617-19 Sheffield Holdings, LLC which has Greystone, LLC as the managing member. Greystone, LLC has Ricketts Acquisition, LLC as a managing member. The assumed mortgage I was referring to was assigned to a separate 'Greystone Sheffield Holdings LLC' which is also owned by Greystone, LLC. So, the Ricketts didn't really take on any debt because they own it through the various LLC's, as KingCubs said. The deed into the Wrigley Sheffield 17-19 LLC shows the transfer tax paid ($1 for every $1000 on the sale is paid to the state). Based on that, the price was $406,500.
  16. The three buildings just bought were the properties in foreclosure being reported on little while back. A quick look at the property records shows that the new entity created by the Ricketts is basically assuming the mortgages on the properties which would explain why the transfer amount isn't disclosed.
  17. The comp looks pretty good once you add in the context of era/ballpark. I'd be curious to see whether the two would be closer together in K rate if it were also adjusted by year. By OPS+, Rizzo just seems to be about a couple years ahead in terms of development. Helton had his first full season at Age 24. He OPS'd .911 with an OPS+ of 119. He followed it up with an OPS+ of 122 and then only had one year under 160 in the next 6 years (but never over 165). Rizzo had the 2/3 debut season at age 22 with an OPS+ of 116 followed by 106 in 2013. His age 24 season was last year and he had an OPS of .913 with an OPS+ of 153. He's currently at 183 for 2015.
  18. The heart failures on the field are so scary. It must be awful to lose someone at that age.
  19. Well, the MLS pool for the next one is looking pretty strong - Seattle, DC, RSL, LA, Vancouver. Hopefully they field some good teams and do what Montreal (and RSL 2011) couldn't do.
  20. Wow, 1-1 is a better result than I could have imagined. I completely forgot the match was this week with all of the Cubs buzz. Thank goodness they have Kronberg to fill in for the suspended Bush. Dykstra's performance against Alajuelense for DC United is still a bad memory when it comes to backup MLS goalkeepers. Olympic Stadium sold out (59,000) for the final in Montreal. So, I missed how Kronberg is cup tied due to playing for SKC last year. So, Montreal got Kristian Nicht from the Indy Eleven to play GK tonight. He's got some Bundesliga experience nearly a decade ago and sat on the bench during Alemannia Aachen's UEFA Cup way back when. Much better choice than some USL fodder. I heard today that the Sean Johnson transfer was pretty much set to happen until all of the blowback came from the rumor.
  21. lmao at Liz getting pumped up after that K.
  22. Let's see if they talk about replay with the NFL people
