  1. Ponson gives chubby guys everywhere reason to believe good things can happen. That said, he sucks. I'd take a broken Miller over a healthy Ponson any day.
  2. I think the Brewers have just as many, if not more, ifs going into next season. I think they could finish anywhere between 1st and 4th, but that 1-2 finish involves their young players playing over their heads. I think they're still a couple of years away from contending, but they're not to be taken lightly.
  3. He would have made my list.
  4. That gave me chills.
  5. Who cares about the record, just lock Z up for 4 more soon.
  6. If Josh Boone could ever figure out the offensive end, he'd be dangerous.
  7. Are you sure that wasn't right after Cowher said, "we gotta find Tirico, he's near my trophy"?
  8. Wow, look, it's a talking goat!! Huh? It's dark, I cannot see you, come closer. Hello?
  9. So could any year. I'm sure there were a bunch of people that thought '03 could be a long year. I'll bet you more people thought 2003 would be a year that Choi, Hill and Zambrano would develop into cornerstones, and we'd be building toward competitiveness in 2004-6. Add Prior and Cruz to that. I thought the Cubs were a dynasty in the making. After 2003, I envisioned '06 as our run to the three-peat.
  10. Jacque-O Dundee can't be traded until June 15th unless Jones gives them permission. Yes, I know.
  11. If defense is what they want, try selling them on Jacque Jones by eating his entire salary, assuming a deal can't be made sooner than we're able to trade him. Jones + Hill + Marmol/Gallagher + cash Or add Williams to that list above and have them throw in Freel.
  12. Freel, Bill Hall, Brady Clark, Oliver Perez
  13. I saw that and thought it was a new thread.
  14. Don't they have random killings inside the park?
  15. That makes two of us, I guess. This all started with me asking a simple question about the payroll, not peeing in anyone's Cheerios. Looking at the recent past with this ownership and management team in place, I do not believe we will start next season at 105. Last year, yes the payroll was right around 100, but 12.5 belonged to someone in Baltimore. The year before was not mid-90's as you keep saying but at 90.5. Without the money owed Sammy in 2005, we haven't gone into a season with a top-5 payroll since before 1990 (if ever, I don't know), and I don't see that changing for next season.
  16. That's not what was being talked about. Vance said "If the spending limit is around 100, the Cubs could still add a player for roughly 5 million. My guess is they could spend up to 105 million if Hendry wanted to." I wondered why he thought 105 was a realistic guess for the upcoming season based on past history with current ownership and management. No mention of midseason moves whatsoever.
  17. I'd be extremely surprised if Spivey out-produced himself next year, and I don't even know what that means.
  18. Lose the avatar? I don't need to see Ozzie's man love for anyone on display.
  19. Bob's spittin' fire right now...
  20. More opportunities. I liked it better the way CubsFanNotBudMan said it.
  21. Bonnie Hunt makes me giggle.
  22. Got his point across, I guess. :-k
  23. If he provided his mid-to-late 90's production in those 3 or 4 games, it would be almost worth every penny.
