  1. And the guy we got boasts a gaudy .200 OBP in 19 games so far this year  And had we not gotten said base clogger, we would likely have finalized the roster with the guy we called up yesterday. I just blew my own mind.
  2. I think Dusty deserves some credit as I do believe the team overachieved a bit in '03, but LaRussa ain't exactly Nostradamus.
  3. Do you have some sort of proof that filling the stadium does not guarantee a winning tradition?
  4. Sorry, I can't back that statement because I can't imagine true fans would want their team to lose. fans with no foresight, anyway. i, for one, want this team to get better, and the only way to that is for things to get worse. i'd rather have the team finish with 60 wins, have the entire front office purged, hire someone who actually knows how to spend wisely and develop a different organizational philosophy than to middle through the season, finish with 70-80 wins, miss the playoffs, and have everyone who's part of the problem back next year. our current Iago, one mr. gary hughes, needs to be imprisoned and hit with a 500-mile restraining order. the light must be seen by the tribune and it won't be seen with a mediocre team, this team must be exceptionally bad. It pains me to say it, but I agree. I want the team to defy all odds and win 95, but it looks more like 75. Injuries will once again be used as the excuse that gets Dusty, his entire staff, Neifi, Rusch, et al back for another crack at it next year. If they're going to be a bad team and miss the playoffs, I think it makes sense to want them to be bad enough that changes have to be made.
  5. I agree but i highly doubt Hendry would do that If Aram did stay, maybe he would go to 2nd base because Walker wont be back i dont think after what happened in the spring :? I think it would be much more likely for Miggy to move to a corner outfield spot. id keep murton and hendry wont get rid of jock 1 year into a 3 year deal it would be a scary lineup if the baseball gods shined on us Pie Cedeno Lee Cabera Aram Murton Barrett jones 2nd base pitcher You have 9 position players in that lineup. I'm not sure where you have Cabrera playing (I really doubt he could play 2nd base adequately) plus you have a 2B. Rover
  6. I thought so too, until I checked Cot's. Ship him now while he still has some value, build for the future.
  7. I don't get it :( 3rd base coach. Our offense sucks, can't get people over to see him.
  8. Cabrera already is great. i wouldnt put him at the same level as a Pujlos yet but he is close Pujols is other-wordly. Cabrera is great.
  9. Cubs lose, infinity to all the Cubs players found dead.
  10. Words were exchanged, I'm guessing, regarding the airmail throw in the 1st that allowed Cameron to move to 2nd. I caught only the tail end, so I don't know for sure if he was "chewing".
  11. Because at this point we'd be extremely lucky to get back half what we paid to land him in the first place. It would be yet another transaction in which Hendry bought high and sold low. (Or, to be more precise, he bought low but paid an inflated price, then went ahead and sold low.) Pierre has been terrible, but there's a good chance his numbers will at least somewhat improve. (They really can't get much worse unless he starts making no contact instead of weak contact.) In addition, I wouldn't coniser Pie fully ready just yet, and he could definitely use a bit more time in the prospect oven. I'd just let Pierre play through his struggles, and hopefully he'll improve to the point where he'd make decent trade bait at the deadline if we're out of it or is doing well enough to contribute to the team if we somehow claw our way back into the playoff race. I suppose. If he's hitting this way at the deadline we're still going to lose our shirts though. It looks very much like the Marlins knew something we didn't and declined to let us in on the joke  What the Marlins knew was that Hendry was desperate for a leadoff hitter after losing out on Furcal and would likely overpay. They were right.
  12. I haven't been watching the games either. They suck.
  13. The Marlins took him out of the top spot for a few games when he was struggling last year and batted him 7th.
  14. I mentioned before, the Riot isn't listed on the Bench. Maybe he didn't out there in time? Maybe he's joining the team vs. San Fran? I coulda sworn that I saw him on the bench during the pregame chatter. Yep, he's there.
  15. Base knock for Slappy J! The thread can end!!!
  16. How is it that you know they have "no interest"? Nobody in this game is untouchable if the right deal comes along.
  17. Would the Mets, fresh from losing Zambrano, part with David Wright for Aramis and Marshall? Marshall could become expendable if any of the other rookies stepped up, and would be the odd man out whenever Wood, Prior, and Miller are all back. Or am I just crazy?
  18. No, Bruce pulled a post and run earlier. I asked, but he didn't answer.
  19. It has to be triple digits for him to get started. Boy, then watch out.
  20. Oh, who's spot is Theriot taking?
