  1. If the Giants team goes on strike for 2 weeks and MLB counts each of their games as a 1-0 loss, then we would likely outscore them 15-0.
  2. The upgrade is Hairston/Perez to Tejada with Walker still in the lineup until Lee would return. Who would you rather have, Miguel Tejada or Neifi? Who would you rather have, Miguel Tejada or JHJ? Who would you rather have, Derrek Lee or Todd Walker?
  3. My hatred for the Cardinals stems from the fact that I am a Cubs fan. By the same token, I hate every other team in baseball just as equally because I'm a Cubs fan. However, as a Cubs fan, I am often embarassed to be categorized with some others when certain statements are made. I never have and never will make jokes regarding the death of Darryl Kile or in any way tarnish his name based on rumors or conjecture that floated around before the coroner's report came back. Jim Edmonds jokes are played out, and quite frankly, never were really that funny. How is calling him names on this board any different than walking through the mall and screaming "[expletive]" or any other derogatory term at a complete stranger? I think the above is more in tune with what the majority of Cubs fans think than what is said by the few who cross the line. Having said all this, I do think that as Cardinals fans, you do have to take a lot of it with a grain of salt as most of it is being said tongue-in-cheek on a CUBS board. I am not condemning everyone's childish antics by any means, but nothing should be taken personally.
  4. How about Williams, Aardsma, and Marshall for LaTroy and Tejada? Ronny Cedeno is not the problem with this team right now. But if you can get Tejada for Marshall, kind of, I guess you've got to do it. And then trade Tejada for Manny Ramirez or something. Marshall has exceeded my expectations and then some, but I'd do that deal any day of the week. Ronny would also not be the problem with this team if he was playing 2nd. And then Lee comes back and you put Walker where? He can fill in anywhere (RF, 2B, 1B), but he'd likely end up on the bench. For a chance to improve this offense with Tejada and Lee, I'd lose Walker in a hurry.
  5. What trash did we get in return for Patterson again? Nate Spears has a .225/.329/.239/.568 line at Daytona! Well, excuse me while I clean up my drool. Yuck! The other player we got for Corey, Carlos Perez, has this line out of the Daytona bullpen... 13 IP, 26 H, 3 HR, 14 BB, 14 K, 10.38 ERA For those scoring at home, that's disgustingly ugly. Fixed.
  6. I think every fan of every team in baseball is already on.

  9. Good for them. I think all big leaguers should too.
  10. Iowa City, baby! Well, working in Cedar Rapids (what a dump). Welcome to the site!
  11. The Cubs need to gain more slugging. They have enough single's hitters. They'd gain over 200 points in ops, and Cedeno looks like he can be an adequate leadoff man. If Cedeno was struggling, I'd be pretty hesitant to deal off Pierre, but the Cubs need a shake up and a lot more power. They don't need to gain 200 points of OPS out of their CF. If the team wants to upgrade OPS production, you do it in RF or SS. It doesn't matter where the OPS gains are, they need them. CF, RF, 2B are all prime candidates right now.
  12. How about Williams, Aardsma, and Marshall for LaTroy and Tejada?
  13. I won't name names, but his initials are Don Baylor.
  14. Cubs win, 6-1. Zambrano goes 8, giving up only 4 hits and striking out 11. (After predicting yesterdays score to be infinity to the entire Cubs team ending up dead, I couldn't go worse.)
  15. Schmidt is pretty darn good when he's on, and he was pretty much on last night. The pitch count doesn't bother me, because like dalgreen said, he was around the plate all night with every hitter. I can't think of too many bad pitches that our hitters chased (well, Jones just sprung to mind, but that's no surprise).
  16. Is this heaven? No, it's Iowa. Wait a sec... That would be hell. Ahem.
  17. The good news is that we haven't lost 9 in a row... YET!
  18. You should join me over here in the "I hate the Cubs" section. It's wonderful. I now have more free time in the summer than I have ever had before because I no longer have to waste 3 hours of my day watching their pathetic displays. I got cold beer...
  19. Hill didn't suck. he certainly wasn't amazing. I'm sorry he didn't throw a no-hitter, what un-realistic expectations. OK HIS 8 HITS 3 WALKS 5 ER IN 6 INNINGS WAS VERY GOOD. He was lucky to be in SF too. He was leaving way too many pitches up in the zone. Those numbers would have been a lot worse in a lot of other parks.
  20. nah, dusty likes walking out there and doing his double switch. it's his trademark. I wonder if he realizes he can also do that between innings.
  21. Your a White Sox fan? Nope, just a Cubs hater. Same thing Not even close. With my new-found hate for the Cubs, I now hate every team in baseball.
