  1. A timely Pisciotta always helps.
  2. I was actually looking forward to hearing your case for Ryan Howard. ;) First full year, he's stronger than Atlas and putting up the numbers to show for it. Won the HR derby. Hell, I just like him a lot. Scary if he gets better. Philly has a scary team if they keep Burrell, get a pitcher, and can find players for the top of the lineup to put Rollins 6th or 7th. Amen. I have a feeling Ryan Howard will win a couple, probably not this year though.
  3. 261/286/420/706 or 300/364/450/814? Tough call. Gotta go with the lefty, I guess.
  4. I'd let their numbers speak for themselves. I don't penalize a player for having good/great teammates. I also don't reward them either. I think Pujols should win the award right now because overall, he has the best numbers. If I had looked at those and saw that Beltran or Wright had the better numbers, then I'd have come to the conclusion that one of them should receive the award, their teammates notwithstanding. Agreed, besides: Rolen's VORP: 37.1 Wright's VORP: 34.5 Stats geek!
  5. At least Murton's playing and still inexplicably batting behind nearly everyone.
  6. David Ortiz will win the MVP for the Mr Clutch moniker, and real baseball fans everywhere will groan because he's not the most valuable player on his own team.
  7. Forgive me if this was previously posted and I missed it, but I saw this gem on Rotoworld:
  8. I have no problems with Pierre in CF for the Cubs IF they have a lot of talent elsewhere and he sports a 361 OBP like he did in 2003. That's not happening, and I would prefer an upgrade.
  9. Last time I checked, you win with offense too. Pitching and defense, is more important than offense. If you dont have a solid pitching staff supported with a solid defense, your not going to win many baseball games. Yet, you advocate the Cubs retaining Juan Pierre who hurts the Cubs from a defensive standpoint because of his weak arm. Pierre has 0 errors so far for the Cubs this year. For the 100th time, all Pierre needs to do is throw the ball to the cut-off man. Didnt Pierre win a world series with his bad arm in CF for the Marlins? No, Pierre was part of a team that won the World Series. His bad arm really didn't help much.
  10. Wait a minute, where the hell did Ron Coomer come from? I thought he disappeared.
  11. Joe seems like a rather stubborn individual, and Loria always struck me as the kind that would have a tizzy if he didn't get what he wanted. What a couple.
  12. I see Robinson and a friend stopped by to vote.
  13. If Mabry gets traded, we need to call up another infielder, or else we'd be playing with 23 men. Lee would likely be activated in that situation. I'm referring to freeing up the 40 man spot.
  14. I'd throw Encarnacion in that mix.
  15. Maybe he'll get his trade value built back up.
  16. Thanks for reminding me how little we got to see Derrek this year.
  17. He smells like cabbage.
  18. When did he leave the show? Wasn't he with the Padres? The Padres released him on 8/2.
  19. You must not have been listening to the jenius McCarver saying how Dusty is a proven winner he's just had some bad luck. Shortly after that I did get in my car and hear Soup's Campbell on the radio broadcast saying the Cubs need to look for another manager after the season :D . That never gets old.
  20. http://adweek.blogs.com/photos/uncategorized/sicover.jpg Just to undo some of the damage Vance just did.
  21. Long shot guess Mabry or Nevin is moved in a trade.
  22. Ugh... No matter how many times I see it, I still can't get used to it.
  23. Hatred of the Yankees and their resources date back to 1920's and their purchase of Babe Ruth. I can't speak for that -- I've only been around since the 70's. But you did speak to that. That is why I corrected you. I thought we were discussing current haters, not my deceased ancestors.
