  1. just in case it was missed the last time around
  2. anything not involving Dane Cook is infinitely better than anything involving Dane Cook
  3. this is the strangest poll yet, and that's saying something
  4. what I'm saying is, maybe it's in reference to the players chosen on the players ballot, not the fan ballot It obviously is(being referred to), since fans don't vote on pitchers, but the players vote by position as well. and Soriano was voted in by the fans, therefore this wouldn't come into play The host was probably an idiot(he's a sports radio host), but the way this is phrased says nothing about how the player got there, just if one needs to be replaced they go to the next highest. I don't know, it's just a guess. if there's anything to do with the voting (and the implication that the PA agreed to it), my guess is the agreement was based solely on the player voting. chances are the host was probably an idiot though

  7. I was coming here to post that this was probably the case. Hurdle has paid attention to the player voting very, very closely when replacing people in the starting lineup/roster. That's the same reason that was given for Holliday being given the starting nod, for example. I don't even think this was really a choice. I was just listening to XM Home Plate and whoever the host was said that if a player cannot participate in the AS game due to an injury (Wood), the next highest vote getter at that position MUST be selected (Marmol). The host said that it wasn't a widely known rule, but was part of the arrangement in 2002 in order to get the PA to agree to the WS home field advantage. Now it could be possible that this guy could has this whole thing screwed up, but he acted as if he knew what he was talking about and it didn't sound like speculation to me. If that was the case Soriano wouldn't have been replaced by David Wright. maybe it's from the players vote

  10. I loves me some Oreos but they give me some terrible heartburn
  11. I think the Cubs were REALLY high on Gallagher as well. I don't think he knows anything the rest of us don't. he has the potential to be a very good #3 (or possible #2) starter
  12. if Burnett's going to turn his season around, that's the right division to do it in
  13. can I post my 1st post-All Star game transaction now? I'd like to drop Sexson and add Jacobs
  14. I had him in the HR derby too. damn me and my selections...
  15. This. HAS to be skyballer YES And nice job ripping off my idea when the Cubs released Prior. :P and kudos to you for changing your name
  16. keep these old pics coming, OMC. I'm often amazed at how different "history" will be going forward with the modern advances in photography and video in all aspects of life.
  17. Is he hurt, or has he been hanging around Rich Hill too much? the numbers might be closer if Rich was throwing right handed
  18. plan on sleeping for 3 years? I just might, I'm friggin tired
  19. Unless it's a typo he's averaging well over a strikeout per inning but over two walks per inning. :shock:I don't think it's a typo -- baseball-reference has similar numbers (I'm assuming there's a game or 2 missing there) http://minors.baseball-reference.com/players.cgi?pid=29351
  20. holy hell, I just checked out Turnbow's minor league numbers http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?n=Derrick%20Turnbow&pos=P&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=276913
