    Why does everyone in their fantasy lineup keep bumping Aramis down to 5? When healthy, he's the best pure hitter we have in the lineup. Lee's a great player, but I think Aramis is more likely to put up those numbers consistently.

    I thought he just said they were going to have a beat writer for the Dodgers on and Corey Patterson's name was somewhere in the same sentence. I will listen to what transpires and update as I hear it. I don't have the quote, but he said something about going to Dallas in a bit to see if there's any smoke around the Patterson to the Dodgers rumor.

    This team will go nowhere with Orton at the helm. Grossman is a HUGE upgrade at this point in their careers, and that isn't saying much.

    Yet another reason Ronny should play. The report on him prior to this past season was that he was a wiz on D. I saw him play a few times in Des Moines, and I would agree with that.

    It's really not that complicated. To score as many runs as possible, get as much OBP as possible, and get as much SLG as possible. The more players you have that are able to contribute OBP and SLG, as opposed to just one or the other, the more OBP and SLG you end up with overall. We've had the SLG, we need some OBP. I'm not saying Gathright's the answer, I just don't understand the glorification of some (Greenberg for one) while crucifying Gathright when there isn't a clear difference in production.

    Are you applying this same critique when asked about Ronny Cedeno? It doesn't sound a whole lot different that his offensive scouting report.

    Actually, when someone makes a bogus claim and uses a Cubs personell (sp?) as his source, it is a big deal. If I claimed to have a conversation with Gerry Hughes and I claim that he told me the Cubs are about to sign Burnett for 5/55 and then it is proved false, I'd expect to be ripped. First of all, it lowers the integrity of this board. Secondly it may cause some casual readers to question the integrity of the person claimed as a source. Third, it's fair game to rip Bruce Levine, Peter Gammons, or any other person who tries to get the "scoop." I think the same should happen here. If I claim to have an "inside" scoop and I'm proven false, I expect the same level of critique. The fact remains, the report left no room for doubt. "100%" was how it was reported. Had he said "likely", "leaning toward", or something that left room for change then I'd probably drop it a lot sooner. Once again, he was given bum information and then apologized for it. In the grand scheme of life, it really is not that big of a deal. He learned his lesson, let's move on. This is a message board, not the United Nations.
