  1. Matty walks. Basesloaded Be patient JHJ
  2. Roberto Hernandez trying to lose the game in the bottom of the 9th at STL. 2 on, 1 out, and Pujols at the plate.
  3. How could it be better, given our personel with Barrett out after the night game? Restovich for Walker and Neifi for Ronny. I like this lineup Those substitutions make it better?
  4. I like the lineup. JJ in the 7th spot isn't bad.
  5. I don't think he was gonna play anyway - night/day game. Plus Blanco might be good for Gooz's first outing. . Blanco was reported earlier and Mabry will be his backup.
  6. The Score likes to play the role of alarmist. It's probably not as bad as the say. At the same time, I wish the guys would stop sliding head first.
  7. If marshall continues this level of pitching and Prior isn't back yet, and his stay is in jeopardy, I'm gonna heckle the HELL out of Hendry the next time I see him. I understand if the rotation becomes Z Maddux Wood Prior Miller and Marshall is sent down to AAA. I completely understand that. But ther eis no way Rusch should be on this team and Marshall shouldn't. I will go ballastic. I think Prior will be back ahead of Miller. I was talking about Marshall's spot being in jeopardy after Wood, Prior, and Miller return... if the rotation is: Z Maddux Wood Prior Miller On second thought, I really have no problem with them sending Marshall to AAA and keeping him on the same number of days rest so that he can be ready to fill in if something happens to one of the starters. They don't want to stretch his arm only to stick him in the 'pen. If he continues to pitch well he may be a permanent starter next season. I think if he continues to pitch the way he did last night there is no way they will move him out of the rotation. What about putting Miller into the bullpen? I don't see Miller going to the bullpen. He will be a starter because he's a veteran and he has prior success. Plus, the Cubs want to see his stuff so that they can determine if they want to negotiate an extension. 2007 figures to have some vacancies in the rotation. I just remember Vance, at least I think it was Vance talking about converting Miller to a "closer" because his mechanics may not bother him as much in short stints. That's not going to happen for the Cubs because the back end of the bullpen is set. Miller will start if he is healthy.

  10. Agreed. I don't have high expectations for this game. He wasn't consistent in AAA and even he admitted that he was surprised to get promoted. I just hope he keeps the team in the game because I think the wind will be blowing out today (and those guys hit a number of balls hard last night that might have been homers if the wind wasn't blowing in at 18 mph).
  11. Novoa's arm is better than Rusch's and he pitches better out of the pen. I wish Rusch could be moved but I don't see it happening... Guzman is not a lock. He has to prove he can pitch effectively. Hopefully, he will do that it the few starts he'll get before Woody returns. I hear you. I'm trying to have optomistic wishful thinking that Gooz will dominate like Marshall. IF that happens the above would be my plan. The reason I moved Novoa is, there is no way Rusch is going anywhere with a 5 million dollar deal. What a stupid, stupid move by Hendry. That's why I think the onus is on Guzman to pitch well because the Cubs will gladly send down Aardsma and move Rusch to the pen but they know he isn't ideal there (so I'm thinking they'll want to keep Novoa). Guzman could be the odd man out until the rosters expand later in the season. Remember, if Miller comes back healthy in June they will want to put him in the rotation. At that time, Marshall's stay may be in jeopardy unless Rusch is traded and he's moved to the pen.

  13. Cool, I was just about to post this.
  14. The Toronto Star say the following: This gamble doesn't look like it will pay off for Toronto.
  15. I haven't read any of the posts in this thread but FYI, it was just mentioned on The Score's update that the Cubs are looking at Pena so maybe there's some validity to this story.
  16. So all that crap about none of them being back until June was just that... Crap? I believe it was Paul Sullivan that said none of them would return until June (while everyone else in the media and associated with the team is pointing to May for Prior and Wood). I don't believe sullivan ever wrote that. Maybe he said it on the radio, but not in print. Here's what Sullivan had to write about Prior's return: Trib I don't believe Sullivan. I think Prior will be back my mid May just based on what Hendry and others have mentioned. Miller will be the last to return from the DL.
  17. Marshall getting some love on MLB.com's front page.
