  1. I don't think I'd deal Murton right now. I'd trade JJ and Dempster for Dunn, if the Reds would do that. Put Murton in RF and live w/ terrible OF defense in exchange for solid OBP and production (can Murton be worse than JJ?). If we're wasting 2 infield spots on "great D/no O" guys, I think we have to do the opposite in the OF. Sign Soriano for CF and I'd go to battle w/ that group. Not ideal, but if we can add a front line starter, a decent middle-of-the-road starter and Dunn & Soriano without losing ARam, we'll be much better than last year.
  2. Webb should have won. Zambrano should have finished 2nd. Yeah, maybe. I would have liked fewer walks, but he had a great season.
  3. I have no problem with Webb winning.
  4. Even assuming ARod's available and willing to come to Chicago, with Prior's injury issues, I'm not sure that's enough for the NYY to give him up. There's a lot of potential there. But there's also a fair amount of risk that those 4 guys are essentially worthless on a team with a $200m payroll that demands to win now. I'd be surprised if that group nets ARod.
  5. Drew - CF with .390 OBP and power? Could hit 3 or 4 for us. Go get him Jim.
  6. If Sheff can still play OF, they need a 1B. More than anything they need a power hitter with patience (esp LH). JD Drew would be a great fit there in RF with Sheff at 1B. I think Tigers boards are talking Bonderman for Teixeira. So I don't know what we have available that would come close to that. They don't need prospects, they need guys who can contribute now. And they're not going to give away the guy that shut down the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in the playoffs for a guy like Jones. Although, they did take Neifi from us, so maybe DD is not as smart as I give him credit for.
  7. Murton would be fine with me. So would Theriot if he ends up winning the 2B job. Those 2 in the top two spots gives us good OBP at the top of the order for (hopefully) Drew, Lee, and ARam (thankfully).
  8. Pleasure doing business with you. T-Mac needs to stay healthy. I frankly wouldn't mind if his back acted up a bit now. :P
  9. I doubt Detroit would accept that offer. They already have Carlos Guillen at ss, they already have Thames and Monroe for LF, and they have Ordonez for RF. I am sure any talks regarding both Bonderman and Granderson would have to include Zambrano. Guillen's days at SS are numbered. His knee will prevent him from playing there too much longer. True, which is why I could see them sending Bondy to Baltimore for Tejada. I cannot see them taking Murton, Izturis, and Jones for Bondy. Murton isn't established enough, I would think, and Izturis and Jones suck. If you have a 23-year old that just blanked the Yankees in the ALCS, you don't trade him for a bunch of unproven, mediocre, or bad players. You trade him for a stud or you don't trade him at all.
  10. I don't see this deal happening at all, but I could definitely see Detroit shopping Bondy. If they're going to contend next year, they must improve their offense. Bondy is their most polished young starter and could net a real big bat in return. I don't think JJ is that bat. And I don't think they want prospects. They just made the WS and are looking at a tough fight to get back to the post season next year with an aging team (outside of their young pitching, Rogers, Guillen, Pudge, and Maggs aren't going to be productive much longer). If they trade Bondy it'll be for a big stick at 1B or 3B or a big stick at SS (and move Guillen to 1B).
  11. I believe that was me. I was a little...busy last night. I offered you a trade, IMB. Also I am over stocked with 3p shooters. If someone needs one, offer me a deal. offer me a trade... i want a better PF (like duncan or howard) I think you're talking about me. I have Dirk, TD, DHow, Okur, Okafor, Gasol, and Granger. And yes, it was autopick. The benefit of autopick is seven PFs. The cost is 1 PG. I'll offer you a trade. I've got a few pg's. I countered your offer.

  13. Agreed. I'd love to have him on the bench. But don't want to outbid a team that wants him to start.
  14. DD has been brought up by others here before. Again, we could do worse, I think. But it's not like the Tigers are built on OBP. They had a lot of timely hitting and great pitching. Unfortunately, the hits didn't come in the WS and the pitching wasn't quite good enough. I don't know that DD has built a perennial contender in Detroit. In fact, without a few moves to improve that offense quite a bit, I don't see them coming close to this year's record again next year. Maybe the worst part about hiring him is that he's such good friends with JH.
  15. Captain Queeg. The Morgan.
  16. If collusion against Barry Bonds is wrong, I don't want to be right.
  17. I'm counting Hill as a 5 possibly 4 until he proves he can pitch as well as he did at the end of 2006. He may pitch only good enough to be a 4 or 5. But I just get the feeling that none of these front of the rotation SPs are going to end up in Chicago. I'm just hoping that we're not the team that wildly overpays for a guy like Suppan.
  18. I'm starting to think Hill will be our 2nd best SP next year. I don't know why, but I just have that feeling. I'm not even that upset about it. If we can add a couple real solid #3s to fill the 3 & 4 spots, I'm ok w/ that rotation. I don't know what the Sox want for Garcia, but I don't think I want to pay much. I think he's a 3/4 at this point.
  19. Didn't realize it was live online. I'll join and set my presets before the draft.
  20. I'm interested, but can't make the draft tomorrow night.
  21. No, bad taste is signing your failed GM to an extension and then leaving town. Nice. Nice sig. :) Thanks, but in the interest of full disclosure, I should mention that I'm hoping to have one of an ND player nailing a Bruin after this weekend. shouldn't they be focused on the game? I'm not sure they're going to need to focus on the game. :P Do you think Tim would let me use such an image as my sig? I'm guessing no.
