  1. Does 90% of your roster have to be older than 30 or was that just a strategic decision by roast?
  2. that is correct, sir. at least until fukudome shows he's awesome this year and needs to move up. That's exactly right.
  3. Unless Forcier can run the offense very well from the start, Threet would have been better. At least he has a full year and several games with the playbook as opposed to 6 months and no college experience. And didn't McGuffie leave too? Sheridan is a horrible, horrible QB. I'll be shocked if Forcier isn't starting from Day 1. I'm surprised Threet, since he's already transferred once. Maybe Rodriguez told him he's already #2 or 3 on the chart.
  4. He's one of the first non-Cubs I remember. My dad was pulling for Boston in the WS and I remember him being upset when Boyd got rocked.
  5. So you don't think it would affect ARod if he got kicked out of the union? He may have lots of money, but he might have trouble getting into the clubhouse.
  6. I thought he was just restructuring, but either way the point remains. If the union can stop a player from altering his contracted salary to go to the team he prefers, why can't it stop a player from waiving a no-trade right?
  7. . :-k It's mighty big of the players union to allow the CBA to be breached when it benefits their own, isn't it? I love the blurb about how the union would permit Cruz and others to waive their individual rights. I don't think the union has a say in that decision. Wasn't it the union not allowing ARod to waive his rights that prevented him from being traded to Boston and instead to NYC?
  8. This is where kopitar has been hanging out? I thought he was banned.
  9. As long as people want to discuss the merits of adding Hudson, I don't see the harm in leaving it open. If we had a high likelihood threshold for every transactions thread, this forum would be pretty quiet.
  10. If you're going to a weeknight game, you can probably get a ticket before the game. I'm still glad I went, but I'm also glad that's not the stadium that my favorite team plays in.
  11. I think this is it. I had pretty decent seats along the first baseline. But I'm 5'7" and couldn't put my legs together without hitting my knees on the seat in front of me and my seat faced CF, so by the 4th inning or so, my body was really tired of sitting at an angle.
  12. 2 outta 3 ain't bad
  13. Had my first Y! draft last night (auto-pick). Didn't really get a chance to set all my pre-ranks. Y! gave me 0 closers. 0. Left at least 3 closers on the board and didn't give me any. Come on.
  14. it's baseball. It'd be more impressive to field an entire team of known non-users.
  15. do rich people even get sick from aids any more? i'd guess that roberto alomar has more than enough money to get the good meds. magic johnson was diagnosed with HIV almost 20 years ago and he's still alive; in fact he looks about 50 lbs overweight. Is there a difference in fighting HIV v AIDS? Magic has been fighting HIV forever. I'm not sure if he'd be winning that battle if it were already AIDS when he started fighting. I don't know one way or the other.
  16. Whole lotta freaky going on in that article. The rape of a 17-year-old Alomar by 2 guys in New Mexico for instance. Didn't see that one coming.
  17. Y! should be up and running now.
  18. I've been told today the Cubs have no interest in Hudson. Oh, and feel free to check out the blog and contribute your own selves. :D It's possible that Fontenot and Miles will get a lot of reps at SS this spring? Yikes. And care to elaborate on your comment that you won't really miss any of the guys other than Wood and DeRosa? You mean from a personal standpoint (there were jerks to the media or something) or you just didn't seem them contributing to the team anyway? I'll miss several of the guys in the sense that I wanted to see them succeed in a Cub uniform. And looking at the flipside (the guys brought in), how many am I really happy to have on board? Well, there's Bradley, who I'm excited, but nervous, about. Then there's...well...um...
  19. flattery will get you nowhere, sir.
  20. Ha. If you had a pic, you'd post it.
  21. I am the way, the truth, the light. Have you tried to the kool-aid? are you really a ND fan? you're lucky this incriminating evidence didn't come out BEFORE your promotion, though I guess there's time for an O'Leary good sleuthing. Was it Andy's post or the 5-star recruit with the ND hat in my sig that gave it away?

  23. the OP of the thread was "I've noticed everyone is being a dick right now." I don't think abuck is disagreeing with that. Actually, the OP seemed to suggest that nsbb isn't as great as it once was and it's because of the attitude of a select few. I'm not sure whether abuck agrees with that or not, but again, I have no idea why you think he missed the point of the thread. I just think the spirit of the thread was "this place used to be cooler, but now it's turning into cubs.com with the level of snarkiness, etc.", and abuck's response was "sack up, you sniveling tattletales." Making a post that is EXACTLY what the OP was complaining about comes across to me as missing the point. But whatever, NSBB is what it is and anyone who doesn't like it is free to leave. It's not for me to say how Tim and the mods want the place to be. I'm also guilty of some of the snarkiness, so I'm not going to start throwing stones I think you actually missed the point of abuck's post, but whatever. It's not worth continuing the discussion.
