  1. Jersey and big daddy drew have never been seen in the same place at the same time. Just saying.
  2. i'm assuming he's claiming to have told the state college police, not the penn state campus police. penn state campus is located in university park, not state college, and any crimes that occur on the campus fall under the jurisdiction of university park police. the campus police is not going to have exclusive jurisdiction over crimes committed on campus. for example, i don't think you go to campus jail if you murder 20 people on campus. Yeah. All the jailers are sorority girls. I think I've seen this on skinimax.
  3. That can't possibly protect his assets can it? I mean, if that's the case wouldn't everyone facing a losing civil suit just 'gift' all their assets to other people? Let's find out. Give all your stuff to me.
  4. Was it Keith Law that said a lefty that can comb his own hair will always have a job in the majors?
  5. Denied
  6. just beat the crap out of bc, please
  7. creepy
  8. I hope you're not suggesting that a Mark Dantonio team is anything but disciplined. ESPN would never allow me to believe such hogwash. I think it is relative. Compared to John L Smith teams, Dantonio teams have a lot of discipline. Compared to the actions of ND, Dantonio teams are similar. hahaha, what? you must be kidding.

  10. Keeping the riff raff out.
  11. I'm struggling to understand this point of view. Just a personal opinion that Theo wants to start fresh without Tito. As the article said he is concerned with too much Bostonization of the Cubs, so it would make sense that with a new team he'd want a new manager, especially given his "10 year" theory. Theo isn't going to humor Tito. If he gives ryno the courtesy of a direct 'youre not a candidate' call, then he'd do the same to Tito. Interviewing other candidates is perfectly normal, esp since Theo hasn't done a manager search for almost 10 years. From all accounts Tito has been the one pushing Theo to be a candidate for this job. I just feel like Theo knows what this team is going to be and most likely he knows what kind of manager we need for this situation. Knowing everything there is to know about Tito, it should either be a situation where he is the guy or he isn't. Just my opinion...I've been wrong before. Theo may feel Tito isn't a candidate. My disagreement is with your claim that Theo is humoring him. That'd be childish
  12. Yeah this was a Trib article 2 nights ago and discussed a few pages back. I think Theo is mostly humoring Francona here and he is not a serious candidate. 13. It had to have been later than that. I signed up on 11/13/2006 and I am at 17095. I thought people could still buy season tickets at the box office in '03.

  15. Not sticking up for Dusty at all, but the scenario you just suggested is one where Mike Maddux may leave his pitcher in. He was the pitching coach for Nolan Ryan's team who was very open about ignoring pitch counts. Now would Maddux have let Prior stay out there during that inning without so much as a mound visit? I doubt it. Just saying, Maddux isn't going to make that decision based on pitch count. As someone posted, they were very good about not abusing pitchers though. So while they build up arm strength thru conditioning, Maddux isn't likely to have guys throwing 130+ pitches all the time.
  16. Wha?
  17. Maybe he's saying he hates the old stats that fantasy baseball uses. I don't want to be a fantasy manager, worrying about R, RBI, and AVG. It's WAR or nothing for this guy!
  18. How did he even get an interview?
  19. Please hire Mike Maddux to save us from this insanity.
  20. B2B + posting = FAIL I'm not sure how many times I have to tell people to be nice, but I'm not going to be patient about it much longer. Oh, so "insult the post, not the poster" is out the window, too? how the heck is that not insulting b2b? Depends on if you read it as saying all b2b posting is a fail or just this one posting by b2b was a fail.
  21. It's consistent with other reports- I think you're thrown off by the "two days after the report" portion. That is referring to two days after the Grand Jury Indictment was made public, I think. What is new to me is that it appears Paterno is trying to indicate that he stopped McQueary's story in his office with something along the lines of- "this is a big deal, you need to go to the A.D. I don't need to hear any more." That's how I interpreted it. Could be. Hard to say how well an 85-year-old remembers a conversation from 10 years ago. If he stopped the discussion, it could also be bc he didn't want to know any more. Either protocol or cover his ass or whatever. Doesn't really change anything though.
  22. I think people would understand that Francona is a very well known entity to Epstein & Hoyer. Then they should know if they want to hire him before starting the process. That's ridiculous Kyle. He's a known quantity but you don't know what else is there until you interview candidates. Theo hasn't hired a manager in 8 years, so it's not like he's talked with several candidates recently and knows the general landscape
  23. i understand that, but i'm waiting to find out what he thought was happening. maybe he thought the whole thing was being handled appropriately by the administration. maybe he was hoping it would be covered up. maybe he was instructed by the AD or a lawyer not to follow up. maybe he closed his eyes and put his fingers in his ears because he didn't want to believe it was happening. there are a lot of "maybes" and until there are some answers, i'm going with the guy's 60 year body of work at the university. How are you going to know, conclusively, what he thought 10 years ago? What we know is he didn't do everything in his power to stop this. Do you at least agree with that?
  24. What many might be struggling with, Truffle, is how you perceive him as honorable when he allowed this to continue. I'm all for an investigation too. But it's difficult to look past the fact that he was told some detail about the assault and did not do absolutely everything in his power to stop it. That's troubling and, for many, would suggest he's less honorable than once thought.
