So refusing to use an arbitrator that made a horrible ruling against you is petty? Um, no. It may be petty if the ruling was widely accepted as fair but against MLB. Refusing to subject yourself to further terrible decisions is good business.

Wilson was fairly public about his desire to play in SoCal and willingness to take less money to do so. He was also the top or among the top FA pitchers last year, so his options weren't exactly limited by his "unproven" status.

Doesn't really matter if he hits well enough. That's a big if, though. It does if they want to improve defensively. Even then to ask a guy who's basically 30 and not very athletic to do that you're increasing his chances of getting hurt. Nothing about this says good idea. Except if he can hit, he's probably providing more value than our current left fielder or anyone else in the organization. So now LaHair is more valuable than Castro?

It was yesterday that you said he wouldn't be league average for a 1b, right? I was traveling so I may have dreamt this, but I don't often dream about nsbb and when I do, its about snood's beard, but I could have sworn you were telling SP and everyone else that LaHair wouldn't be league average at first.

Maybe truffle had a different experience, but this league is incredibly difficult to wrap your head around when you join. in part b/c there isn't one spot with all the rules, in part b/c there are different interpretations of those rules, and in part b/c the rules aren't consistently applied. it would be easier at least for me if i just knew what all the rules were and the consequences for breaking them. for example, going over 7 starts seems to be a huge deal. there's an entire thread dedicated to identifying violators and i think the rules say the 3rd time you do it, you get kicked out. that's harsh/punitive. here, the rules are also pretty clear. i don't think i'm being a 'stickler' b/c i think the rules should just be what they are and apply to everyone. it has nothing to do with punishment or not being friendly. i've been playing fantasy baseball for a long time. i've never been in a league where someone broke a rule and the people that pointed it out and applied to consequences of that rule were deemed "bitchers" or "sticklers." it feels a little like: "hey, the rules say this should happen when you break this rule." "hey asshole, why do you have to be such a dick." "i'm confused" "this is a friendly league so quit being so bitchy." so if i seem a little annoyed it's b/c i have no idea how we're (truffle and abuck and i) the bad guys here. to be clear, i don't think anyone's a bad guy. it's not a personal thing against tim, it's a simple application of a rule to a violation. if you think the rules are punitive as they're applied, then change the rule after the season, but don't change it's application ad hoc.

My comment was intended to be at those bickering that your roster mistake was a big deal. It's not. Simple mistake. We've all made them and we know your integrity. It's fantasy baseball and, like golf, a lot of how it's played should be on an honor code and self-controlled. A private message is better form for handling these kid of simple mistakes. I don't understand this thinking. He made a mistake in violation of the rules so the rules should be applied to address it. No ones asking to castrate him. It shouldn't be a big deal.

I thought the rules stated pretty clearly that if your roster is illegal, you lose points for the days that you're illegal. i'm new, so maybe that's a new rule change. but i got the sense that it's been that way for a while. it's not as if someone's asking to bring the hammer down on you. we're playing by the rules.

it's pretty simple as is. every time you add a player, you drop one. there isn't a lot of math involved. and it says across the top of your my team page that you've over the limit. i assume tim gets no points for all days he's been over the limit.

if i'm reading the transactions right, he had too many guys on his roster before he added robertson/dropped rasmus? Yeah, I'll drop someone else before start of action tomorrow. Would there be any objection if I dropped Santiago and played shorthanded this week with an extra guy on my bench? Why not today so someone can pick them up tomorrow if they want?
