  1. I really need to understand the KSU love. They beat another middling Big 12 team, this time by 13, and they've all but punched their ticket to the title game. They've beaten 3 cupcakes (sorry, snood) and 3 Big 12 teams that hover around the bottom of the top 25 by artificially inflating their rankings without beating any goods teams (just each other and the wildly overrated WVU). You beat Oklahoma on the road by 5? Nice work. ND beat them on the road by 17 a few weeks later when OU had their 2 suspended players back. You beat Miami at home by 39? ND beat them at a neutral site (admittedly more favorable to ND than Miami) by 38. So we play close games. That's fair. ND isn't often going to score 50 points (except against bowl-bound Navy). Then again, ND isn't going to give up 21 to the likes of North Texas, either. In fact, ND went 3 straight games against MSU, UM (with Nard), and Miami without giving up a single TD, let alone 3 TDs to any one of them. Take away ND's win on the road against top-10 MSU. That's fair. We'll dock KSU's top-13 road win against WVU too. Then again, we should probably take a gander at that top-14 win against T Tech, who at 7-3 had 4 early victories against Northwestern State (didn't know it existed), Texas St (seriously thought abuck made this school up to mock Old Style), New Mexico (Boob Davie!), and Iowa State. Tech's also closing strong with a 3OT win against TCU and an OT win against Kansas (?) sandwiched around losses to KSU and Texas. On the other hand, to win out, ND will still have wins against top-15 Stanford and top-20 Southern Cal to go with that OU victory. KSU's second best win after OU is...Texas (whose beaten literally no one - look at their schedule)? Texas Tech? The worst team on ND's schedule is probably BC at 2-8. BC is on par (and probably better than) Kansas, which is KSU's 3rd worst team. Is beating Purdue or Pitt in a close game really worse than beating Missouri St or beating North Texas by just 2 TDs? ND still has to win out. No guarantee, esp with Laney waiting and maybe saving his job by knocking ND out of the title picture. But like I said, someone's going to have to explain the KSU love to me. They have the weakest resume of the 3 unbeaten teams. Why does squeaking by TCU punch their ticket?
  2. abuck must be irate about that gift PI call for UM
  3. No trades have been executed. Was there a ruling that any potential trades that had been discussed should be forgotten and reworked from scratch? Heck, I was starting to reach out to people about offseason trades while the season was still in swing. Doesn't everyone? I can't possibly be the only manager that thinks more than a week ahead. Apologies about the snarky lawyer comment. When I said it in my head and typed it the comment was clearly a jest. But reading back through the thread I see it doesn't read that way at all. Thanks for the apology. I wasn't commenting on your negotiations above. I was just responding to mooch's question. I don't know what people do. I received a trade offer after the season but didn't negotiate during or after the season as I didn't know what the SOP was. Based on my experience last year, we're putting new teams at a disadvantage if we all lock up trades before they join. It's hard enough to get up to speed on this league and figure out relative values but to join after people have made trades with their eyes on next year basically eliminates the new managers from competition (not all teams will be as bad as the one I got, but Karen's sucks). I can't speak for what the rule is or was but I think it's more fair to not negotiate until new managers are added and hopefully that is done soon so we all have lots of time before the Feb deadline.
  4. Abuck put a hold on trading. See the off season thread
  5. hurt? Way to jump to conclusions... I merely asked why people have deals worked out when abuck told the league to hold off.
  6. What? The facts are pretty clear. We aren't supposed to make trades until new managers are found and you made at least two trades. That you started talking before abuck put the hold on isn't relevant. Though bending the rules as you see fit isn't terribly surprising.
  7. Wait people are making trades when abuck told everyone to stand down until new managers are added?
  8. I think blatant Bush-type cheating would go over better than the petty crap he's pulling.
  9. Hopefully USC won't for a very long, long time. Rumors out there on Southern Cal boards that he's gone at the end of the year. So sad. I think they'd be wise to keep him until the scholarship sanctions are done. They're not going to optimize their hire until the sanctions are over. I assumed that was Haden's plan. He was steering the committee that hired Laney so I think that was the idea going in. But maybe he's too embarrassing to keep for 2 more years.
  10. Hopefully USC won't for a very long, long time. Rumors out there on Southern Cal boards that he's gone at the end of the year. So sad.
  11. It's an incredibly famous and boring baseball pic. It should be #1 on that list solely bc the list is so terrible.
  12. Spoiler that [expletive], bukie

  14. Isn't Oregon all over him?
  15. yeah, who knows how that will play out. but he's in town Sunday/Monday to talk about the pre-med program. Did UM lose 2 recruits this week? I saw a rumor today about another one. Anzalone reaffirms commitment to ND. Hope it sticks.
  16. I am not even sure why they are ranked ahead of Michigan. I would imagine that Michigan is at least a touchdown favorite in that game. we're 13.5 pt favorites, which does seem a little batty OU was a 2-score favorite when it hosted ND.
  17. just as good http://mgoblog.com/sites/mgoblog.com/files/images/Game-Column_A685/A60g2IVCAAEC-FZ1_thumb.png That's funny. After the ND game he was saying they didn't lose to ND, they beat themselves by not playing Michigan State Football (one of several teams to use that post-game narrative).
  18. speaking of MSU, this is hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=sHrzQjxlL2s
  19. No. It means the visiting team is getting fucked.
  20. I didn't know you could get home cooking on the road. I was talking about the calls going against Oregon, which is how that phrase is used. Jesus
  21. Abuck must be livid about the home cooking Oregon is getting.
  22. That makes 2 of us
  23. I'm so tired of these refs trying to win the game for ND
  24. Appreciate the sentiment esp since I know you hate ND
  25. dude they're not gonna lose The refs won't allow it
