  1. Maryland having to pay $50m to leave b/c ND just joined is hilarious. Also...Maryland?
  2. Melky will wait and sign with the Cubs in 2018 when we're ready to contend for a WC spot.
  3. Yeah, me too. The paragraph TT pulls from includes this sentence: Saying he took advantage of people and his behavior is despicable isn't what I'd call "ass kissing."
  4. I think we have no choice but to stop being Cubs fans and forever quit posting on this board bc of this signing.
  5. The Marlins were so good that the Jays couldn't resist taking on half of their starting squad.
  6. Yikes. Seeing them all together like that really drives home how bad that conf is.
  7. Karen seemed to abandon her team early. She had a lot of roster issues as well as I recall. I'd given them until the end of the month. Maybe send them an email through RK if that's possible. Plan to have managers in place by Jan 1?
  8. Up to 4. Don is out. And you said you pm'd chuck, juan, and karen in the off season thread.
  9. Why would that concern you? Oh maybe I would like to post about my alma mater's football team like everyone else without people whining and crying that no one cares about A&M on here. It's what happened over & over a few months ago so I stopped posting about the Aggies. Now others are posting about them so I guess it's OK if I do too. Now I guess you can go back to your HYSTERICAL schtick of confusing A&M with Texas State or Texas Tech. Start talking about Lubbock when you really mean College Station again like the good old days. So [expletive] funny to see that posted over and over and over and over and over. Everyone gets [expletive] about their team in this thread. If you can't handle a little ribbing, maybe it's not the best place to chat about your team. Or become an ND fan. People everywhere love us.
  10. that's a really stupid line of argument Ok?
  11. I'm telling you that my opinion is WELL CONNECTED and UNBIASED and only winning matters, not MOV, so you should believe me. I mean, I'm telling you that. So why wouldn't you believe me? Oh, probably bc you've analyzed Sagarin's exact formula and understand it to be better. Fair enough. Hmm... So if I were to choose a good indidcator that a pitcher is good based of W and L's but ignore his ERA, ERA+ or WHIP, or ignore the W-L but focus on his ERA, ERA+ and WHIP? I'll chose the 2nd choice. I'm done with this silly argument. Sagarin loves the big 12 bc the only team with bad losses is Kansas. Might be bc the big 12 has played such a ridiculous OOC schedule that they've virtually eliminated the chance for OOC losses. The entire conf has only played 7 games against what would be automatic qualifying schools and they're 5-2. So it looks at 10 teams and sees 2 OOC losses against good teams and only 1 team with bad losses. So the algorithm says the conf must be strong. Again, why don't you believe me when I tell you I'm unbiased but when Sagarin says it's unbiased you buy in? You don't have a problem with 7 games being enough to determine the strength of a conference?
  12. Obviously the reality is that ND doesn't have the offense that Oregon has. But no team in the country has the D that ND has. So they play to their strengths and keep the points down by grinding the clock. ND had just 3 possessions in the first half against BC and put up 14 points. Every coach in the country would take that point/possession ratio.
  13. Then shouldn't the fact that Notre Dame has no offense bother you also? Notre Dame scored 20 points at home against Purdue (third fewest vs. Purdue this year, better than only Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Michigan) and only 21 against Boston College (also third fewest vs. BC, better than only Maryland and Maine). Are you looking just at those 2 games to determine what ND's offense does? I guess I don't understand that logic. They put up 30 against Pitt and Oklahoma. So the offense must be fine.
  14. Typing it in all caps really sells it.
  15. I'm going to trust Sagarin a hell of a lot more than a biased ND fan's eyes. Like USS? Of wait, he's not an ND fan. You trust sagarin bc it tells you what you want to believe. I trust Sagarin because Sagarin states that the teams are now WELL CONNECTED and so all three ratings are UNBIASED. It also states that ELO_CHESS, only winning and losing matters; the score margin is of no consequence, which makes it very "politically correct". And Sagarin says that K-State SOS is 29, and ND's is 28. ND is one better, but what's criminal is that the VOTERS think Oregon is better because of their flashy costumes and flashy offense. Sagarin says Oregon's SOS is a putrid 45. So, I don't want hear of any junk that "Who did K-State play?" Give me a break. Truthfully, I'd rather have a ND and K-State NC game based of the SOS, since both of those teams played tougher schedules than Oregon did.
  16. It's good to have a late-season cupcake. The SEC knows how to set up a schedule.
  17. I'm going to trust Sagarin a hell of a lot more than a biased ND fan's eyes. Like USS? Of wait, he's not an ND fan. You trust sagarin bc it tells you what you want to believe. I trust Sagarin because I don't watch every single game and I trust computer models more than somebody saying the Big 12 sucks because it helps his argument when he says so. You trust computer models that have ND #1 over KSU? Or just Sagarin's SOS?
  18. I'm going to trust Sagarin a hell of a lot more than a biased ND fan's eyes. Like USS? Of wait, he's not an ND fan. You trust sagarin bc it tells you what you want to believe.
  19. Sagarin isn't god.
  20. ND plays 4 true road games (including USC game). Kansas State plays 5 true road games (including Baylor). If USC was a one loss team, then that would have helped ND chances of overtaking Kansas State. Unfortunately, USC is a 3 loss team at the moment, and if USC loses to UCLA (assuming ND and K-State as well as Oregon staying undefeated) then that hurts ND, because then USC could be out of the top 25 at that stage. Could. Not to mention that Texas is now sitting at 15/18 and if they win their game before K-State game, they could be very much ranked higher. Not to mention that they are currently ranked higher than USC at this point (USC is at 21 on both the AP and Coaches polls) The reason why K-State gets a lot of love from the computers is because the Big XII is the 2nd best conference. Every team in the Big XII is at .500 or better, except for Baylor and Kansas. The weakest resume would have to be Oregon because their SOS does not match up well to Notre Dame or Kansas State. And the only teams that kept Kansas state close was Iowa State and Oklahoma. Other than that, Kansas State has won by two or more possessions in every of their games. ND has won 5 games that was decided by a TD or less. And there was no reason why ND needed three overtimes to be a lowly Pitsburgh Panther football team that they should have blown them out. Style points. I'll say this. If ND was in a conference, then that probably would have helped them much more than being a "Independent". Regardless, K-State does control their destiny for the BCS NC game. Win out, they're in. The Big 12 is overrated bc they play a cream puff OOC schedule that makes the SEC jealous. Without those terrible teams in the slate they wouldn't all be over .500. What's the best OOC win? Playing in Ireland isn't a road game? ND played games in Ireland, Michigan, Chicago and both the East and West coasts. You're going to tell me KSU had a more difficult time with travel? Fact is, ND's schedule was more difficult by any measure and they clearly played better against the 2 shared opponents. Throw in the 3 brutal teams that KSU has on it's schedule and you've got no argument. KSU controls their destiny bc the system is broken. Some writers and coaches voted ND 5th. They should lose their vote immediately.
  21. I first read this poster's name as Treymon and was thoroughly confused.
  22. You know who I really feel bad for? The Western Carolina players. Heading to Tuscaloosa to face a team that Saban is going to run to the ground all week. They're 0-8 in the Southern Conf and giving up what appears to be 40+ ppg. A team outclassed by the Southern Conf is Bama's opponent this week. Their lone win comes against a team that doesn't even have a page on ESPN. Then again, this is their last game and W Carolina had a bye this week. So I'm sure the players are going to give it their all. Speaking of ppg. Bama and ND now tied for first at 11.1 ppg. Apparently Bama's 2 games against Sun Belt teams count in that calculation. Does the game against Western Carolina count too?
