  1. Monte out. "@BFeldmanCBS: RT @USC_Athletics: USC assistant coach Monte Kiffin has resigned effective after the bowl game to pursue opportunities in the NFL." If there's one kid that would take joy in firing his father, I assume it's Laney.
  2. Well, assuming the 2 best teams in a conference are in the conf title game is severely flawed. Conf title games are also sort of stupid to me. Other than make money, I don't know what purpose they serve. That's even more true with a playoff. So maybe the sec and others will decide to abandon the conf title game if they believe it unfairly hurts their teams in the playoff race. Or maybe they start scheduling non-fcs teams OOC so they have a better overall resume than the other teams in their conf and other conferences. Or maybe the playoff expands quickly bc people like money.
  3. denied Tyranny! Time for a mutiny boys
  4. 3, if it were a 4 team playoff this year, they would have Alabama, Georgia, Florida ranked 2-4. An SEC Championship game would just reduce their championship contenders. The top 4 in the bcs don't automatically get in. That's the point of the selection committee. You appear to not be grasping this at all. Florida was in over Georgia because they were assuming a Georgia loss, also allowing Oregon in. Or are just trying to be difficult? Jesus. The mock committee didn't pull the teams from what they thought the bcs rankings would be if GA lost. They discussed the top teams and decided on those 4 independent of the bcs rankings. In other words, if there were no sec title game, all 3 teams in the top 4 likely wouldn't make the playoff as the committee seemed to greatly discount GA due to it's schedule.

  6. Why would they get 4 participants this year?
  7. If you hate your team, you should get to pick one that needs a manger. Screw the newbie
  8. Katie bar the door!
  9. Work hard and get incredibly lucky and you can do whatever you want!
  10. Anyone else on the horizon?
  11. Why expand the playoff? You want luck to be a bigger factor?
  12. It's stupid that Georgia beat Florida on the road and both teams have one loss yet Georgia would be the team left out. Florida is better off being in 3rd place in the SEC than 1st or 2nd. They can sit at home with a spot in the 4 team playoff already locked up while Georgia and Alabama (AHEAD OF THEM IN THE STANDINGS) have to play for one spot. How does that make sense? That's assuming Bama wins. Jesus. Don't fight the hypo. If Bama loses, GA is in the playoff. And do you think for 2 seconds Florida wouldn't gladly trade places with GA? This year they would gladly trade places. When the new rules are in effect, hell no they wouldn't. Georgia could absolutely make a stronger case for themselves in 2014. Start scheduling quality OOC games and winning them and voila.

If GA were undefeated, it'd be different. But both have 1 loss. Florida's loss is better than Georgia's and Florida has more quality wins. In the current system, Florida had to win against GA to get a shot at the sec title and thus the bcs. That's not the case in the playoff.
  14. What does Bob Diaco have to do with this? 2010 (Robinson): 393 YPG 2010 (Robinson): 448 YPG 2011 (Mattison): 317 YPG 2012 (Mattison): 311 YPG that's without really adding any high-impact freshmen, and using a [expletive] walk-on at safety; Diaco has a future top-5 pick to work with and other five-star recruits Ypg is a weird stat to use given the disparity in opponents. What were the relative strengths of the offenses Mattison and Robinson faced? How many great offenses did UM face this year? And in your world, the DC doesn't have a role in bringing in players, only coaching the ones that somehow land on campus? Other than Manti, the 5-stars Diaco has are there bc he brought them there. He was critical in landing and keeping Tuitt. It was his coffee and donuts at 5am that kept Williams from visiting PSU and locked him up. He secured Day. As for players, Diaco's backfield consists of a junior WR, a true freshman RB, a true sophomore safety who has played football for fewer than 5 years and Zeke Motta.
  15. Given that the system in place is different than the one discussed in the article, that's a stupid idea.
  16. Florida probably has the best resume of any sec team, Bama included Yet they lost to Georgia, at home. Yet they have the best resume of any sec team
  17. BTW-if the goal is to determine the best team, I hope they don't expand to 8. If this is little league and the goal is to make sure that every team that has an argument that it should get a shot at the title is included, then let's invite 16 teams. More 1-game playoffs against weaker teams means luck plays a bigger role in determining the champ. Maybe that's what folks want, but I doubt it.

  19. Hard to believe nobody else has picked up on it. He has been rumored for a while as being someone Hart was interested in, though. Pretty sure it was a joke. Ah, completely misunderstood then. 2 Live Crew. Me So Horny. The guy got arrested for singing a song. It was like the highlight of Kurt Loder's career, but I don't think luke is breaking any CFB news.
  20. Or not "@SIPeteThamel: Just spoke to Charlie Strong. He's angry. He says he did not interview at Auburn and has not spoken to them. "It's not true.""

  22. His 8 wins in 2010: Villanova - 1AA Cent Michigan - 3-9 UConn - 8-5 Army - 7-6 Bowling Green - 2-10 Buffalo - 2-10 Akron - 1-11 Kent St - 5-7 Temple was a complete joke before he got there I understand, but that's not a ringing resume of wins. I would hope a coach could manage a winning record with that pitiful a schedule in his 5th year on the job - it shows more that he's competent rather than that he's a really good coach. His 2009 wasn't any better - he had 9 wins, but only 1 (Navy) was over a team with a winning record. Otherwise it was 4 5-win teams and the rest were 1-2 win teams. If Golden's the best we can do, we might as well have kept Dooley. And I still don't see how I'm being unreasonable. I'm noting that a lot of people think Gruden is in play and, because of that, I don't completely rule him out but doubt he's actually in the running. Other than him, I have 2 high profile coaches (Jimbo/Mora) who are only on my list because they've been directly linked to UT and 2 non-high profile coaches (Briles/Patterson) on my list of hopefuls. If it makes you feel better, I'd be perfectly happy with guys like Charlie Strong and Tommy Tuberville as well. You'd settle for Charlie Strong?
  23. Saw that. I've never heard of him, but he doesn't sound terribly reputable. I definitely hope he isn't right. Regardless of whether Gruden is a legit possibility or not, I have no desire to see us hire Golden. Might as well have kept Dooley. I'm serious. It was Luther Campbell. He's a Miami alum as well as an alum of 2 Live Crew.
  24. Luther Campbell, so bank on that
  25. Sounds like Miles got a new deal to stay at LSU. Mad hatter strikes again.
