    With the catching situation as bleak as it is right now, would it be worth it to give him a shot? He's consistently been just under league average in CS% and while the OPS isn't pretty, it's better than either of the current catchers and he's pretty consistently hit .230ish when he's gotten regular playing time. I don't know, I'm just tired of the same trash on the field every day, maybe new trash will be more interesting.

    The problem is the unwillingness to hit a line drive to the opposite field. Last night I watched Dansby pull a fly ball to LF on a pitch on the outside edge instead of hitting it to RF. It's a constant problem and until they start hitting line drives to the opposite field, they aren't going to get those inside pitches they can actually hit over the fence by pulling them.

    I'm convinced it's the ball again. MLB needs to pick something and stick with it so we don't keep having these insane yoyo seasons where nobody knows what to expect.

    The offense has been both bad and unlucky. I have a hard time putting the record on the pitching because every single inning is high leverage and that takes a toll.

    Just watching him, it feels like he's hitting the ball hard and laying off the high FB more frequently, so I'll take those things as a developmental win.

    No idea. There would probably have to be an injury settlement, but in the meantime they can transfer him to the 60 day IL to clear a spot. It's going to be that long before he's back anyway.

    I think Carl and Roberts are the logical candidates. Not necessarily a solution, but you have to try something right?

    I think there actually are some pen arms in Iowa that could help but none are on the 40 man, meaning cutting bait with Madrigal and Mastro is necessary. At this point, I'm all for that.

    RGI from PCA right there. Also, while this pitcher's ERA isn't good, check out who he's pitched against and look at the stuff. Dude isn't some journeyman chump.

    I think the easy decision for 2 spots are Mastro and Madrigal. Both are terrible and with Bote and Vazquez now on the 40 man, they're redundant (outside of the LHH bat from Mastro, but that's a non-factor in my mind). I think you can DFA either/both and not look back with any regrets.

    I get the criticism of Jed and while he was here the whole time, the Theo led regime not producing a prospect worth a damn outside of Happ and Nico since 2016 is really what's killing this team right now. The need to fill all the holes in the roster with acceptable talent from outside the organization at market rates has made it nearly impossible to actually go after the big star this lineup really needs to anchor it without exceeding the perceived payroll limitations from ownership. It's also tough to fault him for assembling a roster who are almost top to bottom having the worst season of their careers and all at the same time. If everyone regresses to the mean by the end of the season, this team is going to average 8 or 9 runs a game from July on, but that may well be too late.

    I tend to agree with this. and I honestly doubt we see him again this year anyway. He's out until Mid July minimum anyway and based on the recent move to the 60 day IL, I'm not optimistic he'd be ready even if he gets a clean bill of health. All those other guys can slot into a setup role but nobody is a lock down closer. I'd be in favor of going and getting a guy if it looks like the offense is going to help sustain a run the last couple months of the season.
