  1. I think Hill. He looks like he'd rather be in the AL, as in completely not interested in being anywhere near a batter's box.
  2. Because there's a good chance on every stride he takes that one of his legs will just completely fall off.
  3. That just almost doesn't seem possible given the home park he pitches in. aside from the goofy boxes in left, minute maid is one of the most pitcher friendly ballparks in the majors. That's the thing though. He's a lefty and you have to think other teams are stacking the lineup with rightys who are more likely to yank it into the Crawford Boxes.
  4. That just almost doesn't seem possible given the home park he pitches in.
  5. To be fair, Wandy has like a 1.1 something ERA at home. Plus he's a lefty. Plus our offense sucks. He must be horrendous on the road with a 4.57 ERA overall then. How the hell is it possible for a junkballer like him to have a 1.1 ERA anywhere?
  6. The Cubs have had 7 damn baserunners the whole night!!!!!!!!! Against "magic" Wandy????? Pathetic.
  7. Is there really any reason not to go get Jermaine Dye? He's heated up a little lately and is only signed thru this year. Any idea what it might take to get him?
  8. all because the pitcher batting 8th probably. What is that all about? LaRussa just proving he's smarter than everyone else or an actual reason?
  9. boy i'm glad you're not running the cubs boy i'm glad you love to root for a team that has a few losers in it. Remove the losers on this team and we can actually win this division. Dempster, Jones, Howry, Eyre are all losers. On the subject of Howry, good lord look at a few statistics before you go spouting off and make yourself sound like an idiot.
  10. Interesting, but way too anecdotal to have any real value. Now you show me that Peavy lost to the Pirates and Reds with Barrett and beat the Mets and Dodgers with Bard, then maybe. Also, wasn't the time of that trade about when Rothschild is supposed to have gotten Z's mechanics fixed?
  11. Unfortunately the most likely explanation for his poor performance today was that he's Sean Marshall. I'll take a staff with a couple of pitcher's putting up the numbers Marshall has this year. Let's make comments with more hyperbole!!!!!!!! Yea hyperbole!!!! Edit: his #'s so far this year (before today) K 22 BB 48 ERA 3.10 WHIP 1.25 BAA .243
  12. Gun to your head, Blanco or Kendall...who do you choose? If Blanco is healthy and you guarantee Kendall won't figure out how a bat works, Blanco every time.
  13. Is this ump really as bad as gameday is indicating?
  14. :?: What does that mean :?: Pretty sure he's talking about Lee and Aram at 1st and 3rd.
  15. I don't have any idea of his availability or contract, but if we're getting an old OF from SF I'd rather have Winn.
  16. I'd rather have a guy who might hit .280-.300 with a .350-.380 OBP (just potential not that he will or I expect him to) and every single hit is a single than watch the crap that has been going out there evry day lately. I can't imagine the catcher position has been much better than .200/.250/.300 since Barrett got traded. Guess who's been worse than a .550 OPS this year? Kendall. Yes, he's been bad this year. No I'm not jumping up and down that they gave up a potentially good arm to get him. But the guy does have a history of being able to get hits and get on base. He's probably not going to OPS above .700, but if he hits in the 2 spot, I really don't care as long as he's getting on base at a .350 clip.
  17. 18. Now, I know we're all a bunch of sabremetric people on this site (for the most part anyway), but you get different things out of different players. I would rather have a guy like Kendall in the 2 spot with the potential for a .350-.380 OBP than a guy like we've had in the past who had a .330 OBP and .700 OPS when you've got Lee, Ramirez, and sometimes Floyd hitting behind him to drive him in. Everybody has been a big fan of Kenny Lofton in his hayday. How much power did he hit for? Pretty good guy to have at the top of the lineup though.
  19. My one worry is that the Cardinals get Edmonds, Carpenter, and Eckstein back and they start playing well. Then Pujols and Rolen remember that they are perrennial all stars and start crushing the ball and end up around career norms for the season. That's my only worry there. The Brewers are possibly still a little young to handle the pressure that goes with the playoff race, but they definitely have the talent to get it done in the not so fantastic NL Central
  20. I didn't take the time to sort through all 21 pages, but did we ever hear the names of the 3 teams interested in Izturis?
  21. Now, is this the case of the Cubs seeing something wrong with a guy that was an easy fix or is he finally just figuring it out after the proverbial "change of scenery"? I'm just curious as Wilken is seen as a draft guru who is very good at identifying projectable talent and wondering if this is something he would have had something to do with.
  22. the production from SS isn't anything to write home about either And it's not just when Izturis starts. The Cubs are still bottom of the league in SS OPS, and Izturis actually has the best numbers out of the SS position. Plus, RF is still ranked 10th in the league. They are being carried by 3B (2nd in league), 1B (3rd in league), LF (4th) and 2B (5th in league). I can't believe that there are 6 worse RF in the NL than what the Cubs have had. That hasn't been nearly the abyss that SS and CF have been, but I'm surprised it's ranked that high.
