  1. Exactly what I thought.
  2. Yeah, those are the fans that even if you show them the 6:1 K:BB ratio and the really low HR rate (yes, I realize it's only the DSL) won't care because "OMG, Campana is fast and we need to steal moar bases" while completely oblivious to the fact that you have to be on base regularly to be able to do that.
  3. Wow, they really have completely lost their minds about the gritty, try hard guys in AZ haven't they? That's way more than I would have expected to get for Campana.

  5. After the way he got out of it last year, I wouldn't be surprised to see Selig try to stick it to him to set an example, even if it is the Brewers.
  6. So does Phil own the Lakers now and he can just ride in and rescue them?
  7. The gum was disgusting before it was 20+ yrs old.
  8. What do you consider "pretty significantly"? How would that compare to getting a CF that could hit for more power? Poorly worded on your first question. I meant to say he could increase the amount of runs scored in a significant way. In other words, runs being at the premium it appears they might be this year along with a seemingly solid pitching staff, the extras scored/created by a guy like Bourn could be significant in terms of games won. On the second, not something I thought about since it's not something readilt available to the Cubs right now. You'd always like to have power at a position that doesn't traditionally have it. Gives you lots of options in filling out your roster.
  9. I'm not sure what caused it or when exactly it happened, but this team had an epiphany at some point and gained an understanding of what Groce wants them to do. They've been so much crisper in execution on both ends of the floor it's like watching a different team. They've been so much better at everything and even my one huge complaint, closing out 3 point shooters, has been much better lately. They've also gotten away with pushing Northwestern all over the place tonight.
  10. I think when you take into account the general lack of power the Cubs have in their lineup, you could look at a guy with Bourn's baserunning ability as a major positive. The ability to grab that extra base on a regular basis, whether by going 1st to 3rd on a single, stealing a base, or scoring from 1st on a double, could increase the amount of runs scored pretty significantly throughout an entire season. Now, put him on that Cubs team with Sosa, Alou, Ramirez, and D. Lee hitting 3-6 and those extra bases probably aren't as critical since there's a lot higher likelihood of a home run from those guys than the current roster has the ability to produce.
  11. Any reason you didn't include Castillo, Barney and Rizzo considering they're all pretty much locks to be on the 25 man?
  12. They've been playing much faster the last few games. You can tell they're reacting a little more instinctively now instead of having to think before every move they make. If Griffey can continue to contribute offensively, that's huge because his shooting ability will open up the middle a lot by drawing one of the other team's big guys to the perimeter. I'm not sold yet, but I'm getting closer to believing this is real improvement and not just fluke wins.
  13. Um, get the hell out of here, you're clearly the problem!
  14. That was his first made threes since 2012. He has been playing awful. That's why we have ripped on him. Exactly. That was by far the most complete game he's ever played at Illinois. Typically, if he's not hitting shots (which, as noted, he hasn't been. 0 for 21 slump to be exact) he's completely useless. He actually got in there and mixed it up last night. His defense was still not good and he very rarely got a body on somebody trying to defensive rebound, but he was way more physical than usual and made a very good read on the game winning play.
  15. TT, Butters and I think Formerly Snayke.
  16. I hate how soft some aspects of college basketball have become. The incidental elbow to Plumlee's nose is not only called a foul, but the guy got a flagrant for it? That sucks. The guy should have room to make a move without the defender's beak being an issue.
  17. Wow, I've seen a lot of illegal screens, but that wasn't one of them. Good lord, guard the guy that can shoot from deep you idiots. The inability to close out on a 3 point shooter rears it's ugly head again.
  18. The worst part of that Watford 3 is that he wasn't even the most open guy on the floor. Transition D is awful. And Griffey continues to be bad.
  19. So a 4 game stretch now means more in evaluation than a 16 game stretch? I think this one is a little harder to judge than other situations have been due to the coaching change. I think it's tough to excel at the QB position when you're not on the same page as your OC. He's going to get paid, but there's no way he should get the $18-20M that Brady, Brees and Manning are getting.
  20. Indiana won at Illinois in 2008. They did not play at Illinois last year. Meaning, IU only has a 3-game losing streak at Illinois. Considering how long it has been since IU won at other locations, say Michigan State, I don't consider that so long. And I agree, I have no idea what to expect. IU matches up pretty well with Illinois so I could see a relatively comfortable win--I do not expect a blowout at all--or I could see Illinois going off from 3 and winning. Who knows? We're soft, mentally and physically. Nobody plays or communicates on defense after the first 5 minutes of each half, there's not much hustle, and we don't block out. So, unless we shoot about 60% from 3, we'll lose by at least 15. I'm so ready to see a changing of the guard and have the Weber coached out of these guys.
  21. Anybody willing to make a wager tonight and give me Illinois +20? I'd still be worried about them covering.
  22. i didn't say anything about being the highest paid. joe flacco played better than any other quarterback in the playoffs, he had a stupid TD/INT ratio. how often does an average qb do that? Well by TD/INT ratio he was the 12th QB. (11th if you take out Kolb) Just ahead of NFL great, Matt Shaub. http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/touchdown-to-interception-ratio/2012/ I think he meant in the playoffs.
  23. I have less of a problem with the body contact on the way to the hoop than I do with the absolute mugging that happened when he tried to shoot. That was awful and should have been called, even if it would have been against the home team in a B10 game.
  24. I haven't looked closely, but in all seriousness, was he a completely different QB once Caldwell took over the play calling? How long was Cameron there?
  25. I played The 2010 at Celtic Manor last March. It was a really cool experience, especially with the first class treatment you get over there, but man, $225 is a lot of cash for a round of golf.
