  1. He looks like he's starting to get comfortable throwing any pitch in any count. Two of the strikeouts today have been looking and the hitters were obviously expecting a very different pitch than they got.
  2. He's a catcher who was on first base so I'm not sure there's any expectation he scores on that play.
  3. I think you're much more likely to see Hap traded than Seiya simply because the best options to fill that hole in the lineup are LH and this team is already weaker against LHP than RHP.
  4. Uh, pitties are lap dogs. Don't you deny that good boy (or girl) their rightful place.
  5. Shut your stupid piehole and let me be irrational. Geez, can't have any fun around here anymore. 🤣😘
  6. The more I stew on it, the less mad I am at Jed and the more mad I am at ownership. Jed hung onto the prospects because he knows he’s not going to have the cash available to re-sign Tucker and at the end of the day, he’s going the route that will sustain some level of success and trading those guys now leaves a huge vacuum in the OF next year and beyond.
  7. I give them a D. You have a glaring need to eat innings and add another playoff starter and you cheap out and say arms were too expensive? Then in the offseason you're going to say Tucker is too expensive. This is amateur hour and MLB should force the Ricketts to sell the team because they refuse to act like the big market behemoth they should be. It's an absolute travesty. I'm less mad at Jed than ownership since he knows he has to keep Caissie around because Tom will cheap out and not give him the cash to sign an actual franchise player long term.
  8. There were rental arms out there to be had and with the question marks the Cubs have with durability, youth, and innings limits, he had to do something more than Soroka.
  9. Man, I've been as big a defender of Jed as anyone but this is just bad. As others have said, this tells me he's not going to get the money he needs to re-sign Tucker so he has to hang onto Caissie. The off season I can excuse him for a little because of Tom's budget BS, but this is 100% on him and I'm not sure he recovers from this with the fans.
  10. Tucker gone, Happ and Suzuki traded and you have wide open spots for all 3 and Tom gets to pocket millions. This is absolute horsefeathers.
  11. That's sure what it feels like right now.
  12. I'm one of them and if this is it, I'm pissed. Dereliction of duty.
  13. 1. I'd bet Berti is on the postseason roster over Ballesteros because baserunning can be at a real premium then. 2. Red Sox getting May gives me more hope on Ryan.
  14. Pssshhhh. Shows what you know. Only 2 teams have more wins from starters.
  15. This. He may not be the best executive in the game, but he's extremely competent. He knows this is a very good team that doesn't have enough gas in the tank to get to the finish line as is. He'll make a move or two and while we may not love the results, I have a feeling it'll be at minimum adequate to shore up the obvious deficiencies.
  16. They can't really do that. They have to move him to afford the other guys they already traded for.
  17. I'm giving Jed the benefit of the doubt. He's pulled enough rabbits out of his hat that nobody saw coming that it wouldn't surprise me if he's got something completely off the radar cooking that will do the trick. Edit: I'll definitely be pissed if there's not a decent starter added before 5:00.
  18. The number of people panicking in here when there's a full 80 minutes until the deadline is kinda hilarious.
  19. This is quite the nonsensical leap in thought process.
  20. There's no way they trade one, let alone two, top 100 prospects for a rental position player.
  21. I wonder if the Brewers are starting to get a little concerned about Peralta. That's 3 consecutive starts where he hasn't been able to locate and hasn't gotten past the 5th inning.
