  1. I don't want to give up on him, I just think he needs some low leverage situations to get his [expletive] back together and he needs to be not giving away games while he figures it out.
  2. He did. Basically said Rosenthal had thrown 6 pitches and he wanted him out there again. Apparently there's some trust issues with the guys he had left in the pen based on what the Cards announcers were saying.
  3. If they make a change, probably Strop Agreed. You've got 3 pretty good late inning options in him, Grimm and Rondon until Veras figures out how to throw a strike again.
  4. Yeah, to a point, but when the decisions are as bad as they've been tonight it's a problem. Now, if he fixes Castro, that gives him a pretty long rope.
  5. I would have been happier if he didn't do dumb [expletive] to make the game 2 innings longer than it needed to be. Then I also wouldn't completely hate him right now.
  6. Holy [expletive] Castillo. BOMB!
  7. Quit dicking around with the offspeed stuff and just throw it by him.
  8. Interesting choice by Matheny here. I'd be pissed as a fan at this decision.
  9. That's simply not true. Most of them it's because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch to be a starter. Really, you're going to sit there and say it's not true that relievers are the most volatile and unpredictable position in baseball? I didn't say that at all. I said that most of them are relievers because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch. It's absolutely the most unpredictable position in the game.
  10. That's simply not true. Most of them it's because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch to be a starter. He's being a smart-ass. If finding relievers is so damn hard then why do the same few organizations always seem to have good ones? And if our guys are so smart, how come our bullpen's been a crater of awful for 3 years? Because most teams don't have utter garbage in their upper minor leagues for 3 straight years.
  11. That's simply not true. Most of them it's because they don't have a quality 3rd pitch to be a starter.
  12. Should be a walk off on about the 3rd pitch here.
  13. Apparently Carpenter is getting the veteran treatment in his 2nd [expletive] year because he's gotten that twice now in this game where there was an inside corner pitch that was a strike and not called.
  14. After Veras' display the other day there should have been somebody throwing as soon as Yadi got on base. Renteria is [expletive] baaaaaad.
  15. He's gonna walk in the [expletive] tying run with nobody warming up. [expletive] me.
  16. Renteria's unwillingness to have somebody warming up right now is maddening too.
  17. Considering he can't hit the broad side of a barn right now, I'm not willing to chalk it up to bad luck.
  18. This team would have been better off without any FA other than Bonifacio. Rosscup instead of Wright and Parker instead of Veras. This just sucks.
  19. Yeah, I'm already done with Renteria. All the bunting, the steal last inning, 4 lefties in a row in the lineup, just a whole lot of basic stuff he's doing wrong.
  20. Well, yeah, but you're also putting the hitter in a tough position of often having to swing at a pitch he's not comfortable swinging at, which is why I'm particularly against doing it with Castro right now who is re-figuring out his happy zones.
  21. After it was already 3-0 they just put him on.
  22. As well as he's swinging the bat right now, you just let him do his thing and don't screw up his timing with a hit and run.
  23. Nothing like running into outs with one of your best hitters at the plate. So stupid.
