  1. We've reached the point of the season where "jumpball to Alshon" has to be an actually designed play whenever the Bears get inside the opponents 35. Too narrow of a use IMO. If Jay can get it to the end zone, let it rip.
  2. What station is he on? I listen to 920 AM. Equal parts terrible sports talk radio (in a good way) and sophomoric/pee pee talk type humor along with some occasional really good radio.
  3. Well it ended the game. Fantasy owners of Rice didn't like it I guess A guy in my league just lost by 4 points and had Rice going tonight. He scores and that wins it for him.
  4. Not that I mind, but Detroit just got screwed on consecutive calls. A facemask that wasn't and a PI where 2 guys feet got tangled.
  5. I think you're having issues because you posted nearly this exact same thing on the same page in this thread.
  6. I have Charles and was nearly done in by the stupid Dallas kicker putting up 36 for my opponent and Eric Decker and the NO kicker having a crap day. I got bailed out by a big night from Dalton though. On to the semis. I hate that my league goes through week 17. What kind of scoring do you have where a kicker can put up 36?? 50+ is worth 10 pts, 40-49 is worth 5 pts, 39 or less is 3. I personally hate it and think it should be like 7 or so for a 50+. Bailey had 2 from 50, 2 from 40, 1 from 30 and 3 PATs. It's generally a pretty high scoring league. I put up 154 yesterday and it was only the 4th highest on the day. I averaged right around 122 a week for the season.
  7. But the point is that he never gets blamed for a team that continually underperforms overall. While most other QB's are lightning rods for criticism if the team underperforms. Actual stats be damned. Tony Romo doesn't get unfair criticism? What world are you guys living in? Romo is up there with Cutler and Eli in terms of the Mt. Rushmore of dudes who invoke a [expletive] storm every time they screw up. He gets criticized plenty, but gets overshadowed quite a bit by Jerry and the entirety of the circus that is Dallas Cowboys football. The Bears don't have all that other crap going on with a nerdy head coach and GM, so Jay becomes the lightning rod. I can understand the expectation with as much as they gave up to get him and the lack of success since he's been here, but the meatballs who hate him seem to conveniently ignore all the BS he's dealt with and had success in spite of incompetence all around him (until this year, anyway).
  8. I have Charles and was nearly done in by the stupid Dallas kicker putting up 36 for my opponent and Eric Decker and the NO kicker having a crap day. I got bailed out by a big night from Dalton though. On to the semis. I hate that my league goes through week 17.
  9. I don't see the oversight. It's not like that $1 guaranteed the Bears could keep him next season. It only meant they could negotiate now. If McCown played well enough with the Bears to earn big money next year, he wasn't going to take a discount to stay. And if some team wants to pay big money to McCown at this stage in his career, let them. Sure, but why wouldn't they spend the $1 extra to be able to negotiate now? Is there a downside? If there's not (I don't know all that much about the NFL cap) then it is definitely an oversight because no matter how unlikely any of this was, $1 is one [expletive] dollar. I would definitely think that's a player/agent driven thing to give them as much leverage as [possible on the off chance that something like this did happen. Not that it was remotely likely. Wasn't McCown essentially retired before the Bears brought him back last year?
  10. He scored 60 for me today. Those were not the numbers I expected to see when I looked up the stats. How the hell does that even happen?
  11. I really think this is where some people just aren't getting it. No one is discrediting what McCown has done. He's been better than about 98% of backups that have ever gotten the chance to play. He's simply not as talented or capable of making all the plays that need to be made on a long term basis as Cutler.
  12. Here is the last 4 years. 2013 - 4 2012 - 5 2011 - 4 2010 - 3 And remember Sumlin's been around for only the last two. The argument may have gone a to a different place. I dont think the SEC is that great. Its the best conference because its best at the top. I agree that the depth is not there and I agree they dont play tough OOC (exceptions exist). But I was saying that its toughest to get into a BCS game from the SEC because no other conference has as many really good teams at the top. And people should stop using A&M and Mizzou's success as a counterpoint to SEC dominance. Those teams arent Big 12 anymore. They are SEC teams now, the SEC plucked two good programs from the Big 12 and made itself a stronger conference and made the Big 12 weaker. The success they are having in the SEC is not a boon for the big 12. Um, yeah, it really is. Those teams haven't had some crazy uptick in recruiting since moving to the SEC (not that it would have made a huge difference yet anyway) and have more than held their own in the SEC after being good, but not great, B12 teams. It's not like they were both running through the B12 undefeated every year and are suddenly scraping to 3 loss seasons now. They're doing about as well in the SEC as they did in the B12.
  13. Jay just needs to be willing to chuck it out there and let Alshon go get it like McCown has the last couple weeks.
  14. I have to think there will be some serious restrictions on how the fielder can position themselves in front of the base/plate.
  15. WTF are these teams thinking? That's completely crazy buckets.
  16. I'd go Douglas there as the WAS defense is just terrible. I've got a similar one for RB2: Pierre Thomas @ STL Joique Bell vs. BAL Ridley @ Miami Thomas vs. NE
  17. Actually, that should happen starting next week. No. Alshon is a main cog in my #1 seed machine.
  18. I locked up the #1 seed today after 3 straight weeks of ridiculous performances by waiver wire QBs. I have a bad feeling that strategy is going to burn me next week.
  19. Holy crap it's snowing in Philly!
  20. I'm not sure if the rule that was stated at the beginning of the year that said you can't keep either of your first 2 picks will actually be in effect. Outside of that, yeah, it's a no brainer.
  21. I'm now rooting for OSU and FSU just so the SEC gets shut out. And I hate myself a little for feeling that way because it's OSU. Gross.
  22. This isn't a sit/start question, but here's the deal. I'm in a league where we can keep 2 guys at the end of the year. I'm probably keeping Alshon and I'm leaning toward keeping Jamaal Charles (which I think I can do, I have to double check the rules because he was my 1st rounder). Would it be worthwhile to grab Doug Martin off the waiver wire and stash him as a keeper (giving up a 7th rounder next year) or should I just stick with Charles since I'll likely have a last 1/3 of the draft pick in a 12 team league?
  23. Then you're not understanding the reason most guys give a discount. They want their millions sooner rather than later. Shark already has millions and doesn't need to give a discount to get the money early since he already has it. Plus, you figure in the age factor and he's probably only getting one shot at a big money deal. I have no problem with his strategy and I'd likely do the same thing. If the NTC really is the hold up, I'm not sure how to feel about that. I'd probably agree to a list of 6-8 teams, but definitely not a full NTC.
  24. Wow, that's really bad. They wouldn't show a replay on TV of that pivot foot as he made the move, but I thought it was a travel live. Between the travel and the shoulder drop into Egwu's chest (much less egregious), there's no way that should've counted. And that really was some brutally bad Weber-ball down the stretch.
  25. Considering it's a FA signing and you can't trade those signings until June of the following season, I highly doubt that would be an option.
