  1. The only one on the entire page that "got it" was Posnanski. He's as good as any out there and I'm not surprised he came up with an intelligent commentary on it.
  2. Why? I've come to really like LeBatard. I listen to his national show on the way home from work just about every day and he's intelligent and doesn't get sucked into the BS vortex that most of the rest of the sports commentary world does. I think what he did was fantastic and the response by some of the higher up at BBWAA is just comical and is making them look the the bunch of childish morons that they are.
  3. Like I said, he's one of the Guardians of the Galaxy.....
  4. I was glad to see them dump truck Baylor last night. I would be happy if they lost every game by 20 until Drew is fired.
  5. That seems like a really, really bad assumption to make without some historical data to back it up, which I'm sure there isn't yet since it's pretty new.
  6. I think they may be afraid of the alternative considering how terrible they've been over the years. Plus, when you consider the level of competence of their owners, as a fan, I wouldn't be confident they'd make even close to a decent hire. Kind of like when Illinois fired Zook expecting to get something better going.
  7. They're not doing their jobs at all any more. Pipe down. Fixed
  8. Yeah, if you want to seed by record, eliminate divisions and just go with 2 conferences. Otherwise, what's the point of divisions and division champions? I think it gives some structure to scheduling and still guarantees a playoff spot for winning your division. You want home field? Win more games. I'd have no problem with them taking steps to avoid having the Saints have to play in Seattle or Philly or the 49ers have to play in GB or Chicago when they earned home field with a better record.
  9. Well, the B10 refs have certainly disregarded the new rules enforcement stuff.
  10. So apparently the old chicken wing play is legal on offense now. Interesting. Also looks like UI and Penn State aren't in danger of duplicating their record low scoring output from a few years ago anymore.
  11. You've never heard of the college Ronald Reagan graduated from?
  12. Well, he's not George Takei or anything, but he went well beyond what most people, celebrity or not, would do. It probably boils down to semantics, so not really a big deal to me. Bottom line is that hopefully he helped get the law repealed and it shitty that he's getting black balled if that's what's really happening.
  13. "Activism?" Being a decent [expletive] human being is "activism" in your book? Oh, right; it's Andry and these are the gays. Yes, what he was doing was activism. He was actively going out and promoting the idea of marriage equality as a fairly visible member of an NFL team. What you and I might do in being supportive of gay marriage laws being passed would be being a decent human being. He's just on the public stage by default; he was barely doing anything that could be called activism outside of writing some articles and answering questions in interviews. Considering his line of work and what it appears to have cost him, I'd say it was activism. He was also on quite a few radio shows campaigning for the repeal of the ban on gay marriage in Minnesota.

  15. Yes to both It depends on whether or not they've already done that this year. The NFL limits the number of times a team can buy out their own tickets in a season.
  16. I was trying to think of what nonsensical thing you would be up to that you couldn't watch the game but could follow this website when I remembered the games may be blacked out this weekend. That would be great. Serves the league right for letting the Packers win. Wait, why are playoff games being blacked out?
  17. To compound the horror of actually being at the Bears Packers game, my championship game ended in a [expletive] tie with no tie breakers set. Ridiculous. It was my 2nd tie of the year.
  18. I say Rodgers is rusty enough in the 1st half that we get a bit of a lead and have just enough to hang on for the W. I'll be there freezing my ass off, so these jerks better make it worth my while!
  19. Injuries beget injuries. I find the blasé "oh if he breaks it no big deal!" Kinda galling. There are already complications possible, it's really not anything he wants to go through. Didn't Danny Amendola come within a few centimeters of being dead from a broken collar bone in the last couple years? It's a potentially very serious problem, moreso than most broken bones would be.
  20. I'm not convinced that will be a factor. He may not want more than 5 years so he's a FA again before he turns 30.
  21. I'll take that as a positive as wrong as he usually is.
  22. This is exactly what I think the biggest problem has been. There's just nobody plugging the middle and keeping guys off the LBs to make tackles in the running game. That, plus the inability to get any kind of pass rush on a regular basis have just killed the defense. Good play up front really hid the weaknesses of the safeties last year it appears.
  23. I more than doubled my opponent in my semifinal, but I'm a little worried about next week because I'm not so sure Jamaal Charles and Eric Decker will be playing for any significant amount of time and I have to find a defense for next week too. No way i trust the Rams in Seattle.
  24. Hey, he hasn't won yet! I could get 10 points each from Gore and Davis tonight to win it! My team picked a great week to have their lowest scoring week of the season. Jerks!
  25. Yeah, I'm not sure how many B1G games this team is going to win. Every team (other than Illinois ironically) is older and more experienced. And U of I seems to have put it together faster than IU's young guys *cough*coaching*cough*. Right now it would be a monumental upset for IU to beat Michigan St, Ohio St, or Wisconsin even at home. And it's a toss-up at best vs. Illinois, Iowa, and Michigan at home. Can't see them beating any of those teams on the road. And then there's Minnesota, who's probably about at the same level. Illinois isn't as good as they looked Saturday. They're not getting a 20 point night from Abrams very often. That was a hell of a game, but they were exceptionally lucky to win it.
