    I'd say no. Between Bourjos, Jay, Tavares, and Grichuk they had plenty of options that I think they were comfortable with. I think giving up Jenkins hurts them a bit, but I know very little about Walden, so that may mitigate that loss some.

    They didn't trade for Juan Pierre or send some ridiculous assets to get this guy. He has a quantifiable, valuable skill set and they gave up an oft injured, high risk asset from a position of depth. That's like the complete opposite of a Jim Hendry trade. You're getting hung up on the fact that they wanted someone left handed. Edit: And I guess that he's a 2B.

    Good lord, Rodgers and Nelson are good. That 42 from last week isn't looking as heinous as it did since they're likely going to put 30+ up in the first half of this game.

    That FA pickup of Mike Evans a few weeks ago is about the only good thing that has happened to my fantasy team all year. And it was really good today.

    That's definitely a fumble but I have no idea if they're going to be able to say there was a clear recovery. And Jay must have said something about nailing that ref's daughter, geez.

    I really don't care how much he plays in the regular season as long as it's enough to win enough games to get a decent playoff seed and gel with the rest of the team. I'd rather have him fresh and healthy for the playoffs where I would be utterly shocked if he wasn't flying around at top speed and playing big minutes in every game.

    That'd have to fall under tampering Why? He's not signed with any team at that point. Shady negotiating tactics, yes, but tampering, I don't think it qualifies.

    I can get on board with this. I'd rather trade CJ than Hendricks. Hell, I'd rather trade any pitcher in the minor leagues before Hendricks. CJ has yet to throw more than 117 innings in a season. Hell, he's yet to throw 100 as a Cub in a year and a half, which includes playoffs and the AFL. And every other pitcher in the system is either not as good as he is or further away, while Hendricks is a key part to the rotation next year. Moving from Hendricks to Hamels is probably a pretty marginal move that doesn't help the Cubs as much as you would think. I agree, and for all the reasons you stated. I'm saying any pitching prospect other than those 2.

    Well, the combination of playing for clueless monkeys for a couple years combined with Kelly appearing to be really, really good at this whole offense thing will do that.

    Why? I mean, sure, fire him too, but why before Tucker? I think Trestman has a credibility problem if he fires the DC while his offense is performing poorly. Nobody cares about ST until it messes up (the bears every single game for 2 years) or does something great (the bears a long time ago). They've given up nearly 100 points in 6 quarters lol. I don't care how bad the offense is. I get that. But I care. The defense is awful without a doubt, but the offense has been a huge disappointment, despite being the focal point of this organization since Emery took over. I have literally watched zero plays in this game, but it seems to me that O line continuity has been a huge problem this year where health of that unit contributed largely to success of the offense last year.

    You don't think he'll be worth 1/10 in 2018? No. He'll be a 35 year old catcher and there haven't been a lot of those guys worth $5M, let alone $10M. I think, and it's certainly just my opinion, that he'll have 2 good years on this next contract and be kind of bad after that.

    I'd probably rather give him 3/50 than 4/60 if the price is going to be as high as it seems.

    This is dumb logic, because by the time that contract is terrible, Schwarber will be starting and hitting 30 dongs a year for almost free so it won't matter if we're paying him $5M a year to catch once a week. Am I missing something? Why would we only be paying him 5M a year when he's going to get 15M annually? Because reading is apparently exceptionally difficult for me. Geez, that was bad. Although the point remains, and I'll be shocked if Martin gets anywhere near $15M annually, which is probably why my brain thought $15M was over 3 years.

    You round first hard regardless of whether that is a single or not. I haven't seen a replay focused on Gordon the whole way around, I'm just spitballing You're spitballing that he jogged around 1B on a well-struck single as the final out in the WS? That's the part that bugs me. If he wasn't hauling ass, he certainly should have been so he could take advantage of any mistake made since he was the [expletive] tying run in game 7 of the freaking world series.
