Butler has played fantastic D and that's twice now he's been called for a foul when he had all ball. Just criminal, especially the last one where contact was initiated by LeBron dropping his shoulder into Jimmy.

So the bullpen woes everyone keeps complaining about are mostly just a heaping helping of BABIP variance? All of our pitchers have been BABIPed to death so far. I've never seen so many seeing eye ground balls in my life. The Arrietta start against the Reds may have been the worst.
Holliday, Peralta, Reynolds/Adams, Heyward, Wong I see why it would make sense to go to Strop, but I also have enough faith in Rosscup to go get those outs too. Yeah, I think I'd go Strop in the 7th and Rosscup in the 8th just for matchup reasons.
Wood had retired something like 12 of 13 hitters, was in the 80s for pitch count, and 2 of the first 3 hitters were left handed. He did exactly what he should have there. Yeah, there was nothing wrong with the decision. And only one of those balls was even hit very hard.
What are the rules on UDFA contracts? Can there be bonuses based on starts/probowl/etc? I was wondering the same thing myself. I know there's a UDFA bonus pool that's pretty small, but does a contract like that have to come out of the rookie draft pool and if so, does just the guaranteed money count?
The "fans actually watch the game" thing just makes me laugh. I got a free ticket to the Cards-Bucs game Saturday and there are just as many dumb girls there to be seen at Busch as there are at Wrigley, as I'm sure there are at just about every other ML park.
Yeah, they've been unbelievably lucky thus far. The Pirates left like 18 guys on base before they got to extra innings yesterday. And there's no way their pen holds up with the lack of starters innings they're going to get out of the bag of crap replacing Wainwright.
Well, at least the Cards pitching staff will be depleted when we get there. Heading to the 11th now and they haven't gotten much from their starters innings wise this weekend except for today.
I wouldn't have a problem with because as others have said, between FA additions and an expected bounce from competent coaching, I think the defense will be serviceable this year and more good OL is always a good thing.
dego tee Jesus. I've never heard one called that either. I've heard it called a wife beater a million times, but never that. Must be an older Chicago area term, because I've heard my dad use it a bunch of times. I don't think it's meant to be offensive (which it clearly is), but it's apparently something that was used without much thought where my dad grew up (Elmwood Park, which was about 50/50 Irish/Italian when he was growing up).
