  1. My goodness, if he's fixed this lineup when everyone is hitting is terrifying.
  2. The most fun part of that is how most of their fans have no idea how much of a paper tiger that team was because of the insane strand rate from their pitchers that year with an averagish defense behind them.
  3. Uh-oh. [tweet] [/tweet]
  4. au contraire... http://www.espn.com/blog/st-louis-cardinals/post/_/id/3093/cardinals-putting-up-the-money-to-take-down-the-cubs Wait, that article only has a time on it...not a date...is that from today? That seems like an awfully delusional piece to write at the moment. Delusional was the exact word that came to mind as I was reading it.
  5. This dude's name sounds like he's from the deep south and destined to be a BFIB favorite one day.
  6. That is very strange. Second time in three starts with 115 or more pitches this season per Keith Law. What is Matheny doing? Fairly certain he has no idea either.
  7. This is absolutely accurate.
  8. 32. And me either.
  9. Same. I got the first 3 easily but definitely had a WTF moment at Tony Armas.
  10. Just ballpark, how many of those top 10 pitching selections were made with the idea of saving bonus dollars for other picks? Maybe half? Less?
  11. 3/4. The 4th is impossible. No Henderson. jimmie foxx? or are we focusing on oakland and not the history of the a's themselves? Just Oakland. Hint: It was in the '80s.
  12. McGuire Dave Henderson Canseco Reggie Jackson 3/4. The 4th is impossible. No Henderson.
  13. Name the 4 Oakland A's to lead the AL in HRs.

  15. What am I missing?
  16. The combination of that plus Matheny's inability to grasp any of the finer strategic parts of the game is likely going to make this another long season for them.
  17. "league tarnishing" is.....something I guess. I think this was my favorite part.... "I'm a season ticket holder that paid to watch a half decade of s*** games from the Cubs. Now as a handful of other teams follow suit I've got even more garbage on the schedule. The "tank hard" strategy is cool when you want to build a championship at all costs but it cheapens the product across the league. I'm actually probably more mad at MLB than Chicago that this is a growing concern, but as a consumer and taxpayer of a publicly subsidized entertainment product I am not thrilled with my money going towards watching teams that are literally trying to lose, and then hearing them brag about how great they are when they finally win." I wasn't sure where to start with that pile of BS, so I just laughed loudly at the publicly subsidized part.
  18. Is anyone having issues streaming MLB TV? I'm going through my BluRay player and it keeps crashing.
  19. Great Cards fans.....I have 2 available as well.
  20. Did Matheny get a Darryl Kile tattoo? He just loves ketchup.
  21. There's a ton of great food down here, but that list includes almost none of the stuff they claim as their own. Pork steaks and gooey buttercake are about it. Proven is so bad melted on anything but is tolerable when it's cold and still has some structure to it.
  22. what's crazy is with these guys if anything it's been the opposite of what he was saying . none of the scouting reports had guys like javy, addy, KB, etc. as great as they are defensively. of course, considering addy and JB were shortstops, they were supposed to be pretty good to good but there wasn't really talk of them being elite impact/difference making defensive players (in fact, some reports even questioned whether they could stick at SS)...and obviously there were some iffy reports on KB at 3B (not saying there weren't good ones too). i just don't think the scouting reports were as high as they should've been on these guys as defenders when they were coming up. That's a really good point. I remember going to see Iowa play a three-game series in OKC and thinking Bryant looked stiff and frankly too tall to play 3B. I was totally sold on Baez though, because he made a number of "Baez" plays in that series, and I had gone into it thinking of him as this error-prone lackadaisical goober I saw Javy play in Peoria very early on and he was very clearly the best player on the field. Wasn't any question in my mind.
  23. How long is that drive again? :-k ~4 hours
