  1. well http://www.aussietopenders-sims2.com/images1/Zita_WishingWellMesh.jpg Well.
  2. He's getting booed by the home crowd. Poor Adam.
  3. What was the 'earrings' comment in reference to? Real-life experience.
  4. Who's John Dewan? President of Baseball Info Solutions and CardsFanInChiTown's life partner. Inside joke or you trying to tell us something? All I know is that Jacque Jones in CF would be a disaster. Rivers would start flowing backwards, cats would grow feathers, and the sun would implode. There's no way Jacque Jones can play CF in the big leagues. Uh huh  Context: It was suggested last year, before the signing of Soriano, that the best way to maximize Jacque's value would be to move him to CF, a position he played in the past until being moved to RF for Torii Hunter. Michael's argument was that Jacque Jones rated poorly as a RF in Dewan's Fielding Bible, so it would be disastrous to move him to CF. The counterargument was that his offense would outweigh any defensive range problems, which were probably overstated anyway as Dewan's park factor calculations are skewed by the odd shape of the Metrodome's RF wall. I'd rather have Pie than Jacque in CF, but Jacque's numbers - current or projected - look a whole lot better in CF than in RF.
  5. Don't worry. Cesar leads off the next inning.
  6. No thanks. But we'll take Bay for Izturis. And Jones. No Nefi? We have plenty of over-priced middle relievers. We'll throw in one.

  9. Who's John Dewan? Author of The Fielding Bible and baseball statistics guru/luminary. Recommend his book? Yeah, it's a great reference book.

  11. Peripherals don't matter. We need to get more clutchy. I suggest having runners stand on 2nd base during batting practice to simulate hitting with RISP. And having a lefty throw batting practice.
  12. Doumit on my fantasy team! Sorry.
  13. So everytime DLee is on second with two outs, I think "Please don't try to steal third."
  14. When Soriano moved to LF, Murton became a bench player. Jones is the starter in right, with Murton and Floyd getting a good amount of time there as well. Murton is not getting a good amount of time in right. If you believe the back injury kept him out of the games before the off day last week, then since Soriano moved to LF Murton has started twice in right over a 5 game period. If you believe that, well, have fun. I believe in facts and the fact is Murton is getting screwed. Murton has been a below replacement level hitter this year, albeit in a limited number of at-bats. Other Cubs hitting below replacement level: Pie, Izturis, and Cedeno. I don't agree with making decisions based on 40 at-bats, but Lou is being consistent in starting the players who are performing.
  15. Chris Capuano just left the game vs. the Cardinals after 3 innings. He's hurting. Also: David Eckstein has been dropped to 8th in the batting order. The Cards just aren't getting enough grit and hustle to keep him in the leadoff spot.
  16. Brian Sabean isn't interested in anyone under 32.
  17. I liked County much more than Miller. The food is pretty good at Miller, but the atmosphere is lacking, especially when the roof is closed. I do think The Cell has come a long way, too.
  18. Is there really a significant difference between asking him to get three outs or four? Magic 8-ball says not likely. Actually yes. Dempster had to warm up to pitch this inning. He threw 5 pitches. He will warm up again next inning, then throw how ever many pitches. Considering that the vast majority of the time Dempster will warm up and throw one time a day. I don't see him being expected to come back 3-4 hours from now and pitching again. You'll have to forgive me if I disagree that it will make a difference. I think it'll make a difference, and Dempster will likely be unavailable for the second game. But I think trying to lock down the first game is more important than perhaps needing Dempster for the second game. Wuertz is available, and he's more than capable. But, what is "it"? If he is unavailable later, I think it's because he closed out the first game and Lou doesn't want him pitching more than once in a day. I don't think it makes one bit of difference whether he went 1.0 or 1.3 to get the save. That's just silly, IMHO. The number of pitches he throws, cumulatively, will probably preclude Dempster from coming into the second game. He's at 15 now, plus warming up in the 'pen and before this inning. Not a good idea to tax him with another outing much later in the day. ' Now's he's probably done for game 2. Gonna likely go over 30 pitches here. Still, I think it's worth the risk to win this game. Just have to win the 2nd by more than 3. He was probably done for game 2 when he appeared in game 1.
