Yeah, but he's proven. Lou Piniella must really hate Murton and Pie. Coming into Chicago, he had a reputation for playing vets over young players. FWIW. Does he not play Theriot quite a bit? Sure, but when a young player has early success, it makes it easy. Guys like Bobby Cox will stick with a young guy even if he goes 3 for 26. I'm not saying Lou is going Dusty on us, but that is his reputation.

Well technically that was a run and hit. A hit and run is what the players do every single at bat. Earl Weaver made a distinction between a "hit and run" and a "run and hit." A "hit and run" is what happens when the runner breaks for second and the hitter has to swing to protect the runner. A "run and hit" is when the runner goes and the batter has the option to swing. In a run and hit, the runner expects to steal the base if the batter doesn't swing or doesn't make contact. Weaver hated the hit and run but used the run and hit often.

yes, i did see that stat on yahoo. but those guys are just slumpin, ur lucky u dont have izturis, blanco, and jones. u guys have pujols, edmonds, rolen, that little dweeb eckstein, who all usually have high averages. its just early season slumps, thats all. not to mention ur manager has won in the past 17 years, unlike ours True, however Preston Wilson is the Anti-Christ. Can you claim your lineup features the Anti-Christ? No, you can't. Did you notice that Jacque Jones is playing CF today? And yet, the world hasn't come to an end.

He's not doing Cedeno any favors by giving him starts vs LHP. Cedeno hits RHP better than he hits LHP, and Izturis hits lefties and righties equally poorly. According to ESPN's stats, Izturis has gotten 1 at-bat against a left-handed pitcher this year. That's crazy.
