    The George Brett pine tar incident was the height of stupidity. Pine tar doesn't make the ball go further. It was (is?) a stupid rule instituted decades ago because one owner was so cheap that he didn't like to have to bring a new baseball into the game when one had to be discarded because it got too much pine tar on it.

    I thought only the Cubs fans treated their players that way? Guess some people were wrong. I'm from near Philly... I'm pretty sure people there wanted Lance Parrish dead by the end of his first year in town. Running Abreu out of town was smart. And scapegoating Burrell is pretty intelligent, too.

    Laughably easy. Jack Wilson. Even when figuring in that Wilson is owed $14 million through 2009? At least the Cubs can cut Izturis. That's what? Less than $5mil/yr? We're paying mid-range starters 7-10mil/yr as it is. No, I meant $14 million over 2008 and 2009, though I certainly wasn't clear about it. He's making $20 million over 2007, 2008, and 2009.

    I've learned a long time ago never to let the Cubs ruin my day (life). I wish I could say that.....I really do. 2005 did it for me. I went to about 30 Cubs games and saw it all - Latroy blowing a game by hitting a baserunner with a throw, Jon Leicester's first and only start, Todd Hollandsworth starting in LF, etc.

    I think Corey led the league in 3 unassisteds in 2005. "3 unassisted" isn't nearly as catchy a nickname as "4-3" though. it wasn't 4-3 it was to DLee at the bag. ;) Was comparing CPatt to Juan Pierre. Both liked to pull the ball on the ground and get thrown out at first, but Corey pulled it just a little more.

    That's it... in a handicapped match it will be Michael Barrett against Cesar Izturis and the Big Parrot in a fight to the death.... Barrett by legdrop after the Parrot turns on Izturis.

    Yeah, Jones wasn't booed because fans expected success, he was booed because fans expected failure. I've always liked to think that booing Jacque was booing Hendry by proxy.
