  1. For those with BP subscriptions: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=2633 There's no evidence that a set rotation offers any health benefit to starting pitchers. It would make sense to line things up so that Zambrano, Dempster, and Lieber face the Brewers while using Hill, Lilly, and Marshall against the Reds.
  2. Probably not, but they should.
  3. Completely agree. If Marquis and Dempster are going to be in the rotation, they should be pitching against the Brewers. The handling of Hill, like almost everything else Lou has done this year, has been stupid, but this makes a lot of sense.
  4. Doesn't get much dumber than Lou tonight. I'm sorry if it offends anyone. I think if we all chipped in $10, we could pay Rob Dibble to take out Lou for us. YOU WANNA BE A MAN? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lmCwRYZOHRo LOL. I have Titans season tickets.

  6. I would pay to watch Dusty and Lou play chess.
  7. "I'm gonna have you hit for Ronny, and I'm gonna call for a sac bunt."
  8. Theriot wouldn't have made that play. Just sayin.
  9. That's just what happens when you get so many men on base! Yeah, I'm too busy to do the analysis right now, but I'm pretty sure there's a high correlation between LOB totals and run totals.
  10. Don't count on it. Stupid Lou and his hit-and-runs. The Cubs will bench a guy after three bad at-bats, but Lou will keep calling for hit-and-runs if they fail 100 straight times.
  11. which translated to a 4.7 warp. i'm not trying to be contrarian i just think thats interesting. WARP incorporates defense, and Neifi was one of the best defensive SS in baseball in 2005.
  12. I'd boo two guys in that sentence. The other one is Corey Patterson. If I could fight one person, living or dead, I'd fight Marty Brenneman.
  13. How do you feel about people that cheat on their taxes?
  14. I went to bed in the 20th.
  15. A hitter batting ninth is a good idea. The manager would have to sell it to whomever was chosen to do it, but stats show that it's one of Larussa's ideas that does work.
  16. same question, only this time with Theriot FIRE!! and INTENSITY!!
  17. No, Lou will tell us he's going to the pen, then he'll say no he's not.
  18. NSBB is not a single entity. But if I were owner, I'd fire Hendry as quickly as humanly possible.
  19. Really? Absolutely. Bad strategic moves + burning out good pen pitchers in non-critical situations + overreacting to short samples constantly. Lou's not the best strategist in the world, I agree, but he makes up for it in other ways. Like what? I'm sending Rob Dibble to the dugout right now.
  20. Pat and Ron are talking like Blanco missed the sign. For the entire at-bat?
  21. Really? Yeah. He really does suck. Better than Dusty Baker doesn't mean good.
  22. I can't find the article right now, but I'm pretty sure that the work of Dan Fox over at BP showed that the Cubs cost themselves more runs than any other NL team by being caught stealing so much last year. A lot of those are busted hit-and-runs. Someone should cut off Lou's arms so he can't call for a hit-and-run ever again.
