  1. Ouch; Sweden were robbed by that offside decision.
  2. I'm all about Paraguay for this one. Finally, the English might get a chance to view the masterful Paredes for the genius he is, after the debacle of the coverage he got in Japan/Korea.
  3. That's three teams through, then. I look forward to Paraguay/Sweden. That's gonna be interesting.
  4. I'm thinking Italian mind-games. The pre-game is almost as important as the game in Italy.
  5. I'm really enjoying the news coverage of this one in the UK. There's loads of build-up about England, then there's a cursory glance at Scotland where they're all wearing T&T shirts and going balmy.
  6. I bet Costa Rica have never had so many Polish fans before.
  7. I can't believe Podolski put that wide. He didn't have it saved, which would have been poor from there. He put it wide. It was an astounding bad miss.
  8. I wouldn't want to mess with the South African police, to be honest. Nor the German police... actually, any police.
  9. I'd prefer they shuffled to get Juninho in, but you're right.
  10. The workrate of Dado Prso has been immense but, unfortunately, when he's out wide he can't be in the box to get on the end of his crosses.
  11. I'm gutted for Croatia. They've not deserved that.
  12. Croatia are giving a decent account of themselves so far.
  13. I believe Brasil is the native way of writing it, and Brazil the anglicised way. You can take your pick. I always try to use native writing for names (although Italian cities are well known as Milan rather than Milano, and Turin rather than Torino)
  14. I wouldn't call it disappointing. Both teams had numerous opportunities to score but neither team converted. It was an entertaining game though. I just didn't feel it flickering into life at any point - given the players France have, and the way Switzerland have been playing of late, I was disappointed. As the old cliché goes; it needed a goal.
  15. That was a disappointing game all round, really. Maybe, just maybe, the Brazilians will play with a bit more flair later today.
  16. #-o - Ribery? Any confidence?
  17. I'm torn. I'm a massive Frank Ribery fan, but I like a few of the Swiss players, too - Daniel Gygax especially. However, as Gygax doesn't start, I'll go France.... for now.
  18. - Anonymous except for the shot off the post.
  19. I thought Claudio Reyna might do a bit more to that end, as well, but he was fairly anonymous. The Czechs are highly fancied, and they showed why today, but their defence will be shown to be more suspect by teams with a bit more about them; Italy, for example, on today's performance.
  20. I've been impressed with the Czechs - the BBC are saying, over and again, that the USA team just lacks a bit of invention, that the Czechs have got in Rosicky and Nedved. I think they're right.
  21. Angola will win a lot of friends playing like that; they grew in confidence and stature during the first half and Akwa's got to put one of those over-head kicks in at some point, surely? Portugal can be satisfied, but they seemed to forsake scoring for trying to score well, and in the end only got the one.
  22. Here comes the destruction?
  23. I got to 25 while I was bathing. I guess there's no mention of the snake at any point, then. Odd that its there, then?
  24. Mexico still looking brighter - but playing for a penalty, again. Nothing doing.
  25. - Including the one where Marquez got taken out on his way through? I didn't see that one, I was referring to the clean tackle from behind, and the fall on the touch line after the ball went out of bounds. The game's won now anyway. (Cool :D - 'won now' is a palindrome)
