  1. All four of England's penalties were saveable; and nobody looked confident, you're right.
  2. Well, this particular show is over.
  3. He's had an appalling tournament. That was a continuation.
  4. That's what I saw as well on the replay. Didn't see it at first but the referee was right behind Rooney so he obviously saw it. That was the inevitable Wayne Rooney blowup. He didn't help himself by shoving Ronaldo straight afterwards, either.
  5. Sprite Z is the official soda of tasting better than its original, and being named after everyone's favourite Chicago Cub.
  6. Roberto Baggio had an 86% success rate with penalty kicks in Serie A which was, apparently, the highest success rate of anyone ever. There's presumably a cut-off point of number taken.
  7. That was an appalling attacking performance by both teams; though there were some wonderful moments of defensive play by both. Italy will be rubbing their hands together.
  8. With Del Piero, I'm sure 'play' has been a stretch for a while now.
  9. Figowill be available. There are doubts over Cristiano Ronaldo's fitness, though.
  10. Yes, he did. And now Portugal go on to face England without Deco and Costinha and, more likely than not, Figo.
  11. If he sends them a written apology, I'm sure he'll only get a slap on the wrist. But that would cause him to writhe in 'agony' on the floor for a few days, so the result would be much the same.
  12. :( - Owen Hargreaves is right-back again. Why do they do that? (Appalling squad selection notwithstanding)
  13. I'm looking forward to Argentina-Mexico and I think Brazil-Ghana could be surprisingly entertaining although with Essien unavailable to play (2 yellows) it might not be. France vs. Spain for me.
  14. Lukas Podolski continues his goal-scoring from the previous game; 1-0 Deutschland.
  15. I just looked back through everyone's predictions for who would qualify from the group stages; everyone thought more or less the same thing, but both Ghana and Australia went unpicked by anyone and Sweden were something of a surprise. So there you go.
  16. We are talking the World Cup of football/soccer, right? Not the curling one, or the crown green bowls one....
  17. Isn't it a picture from last year? I seem to remember seeing it before; so if his face was thin, its something that's been going on a while. I think its shadows.
  18. I want to point out (at this stage) that I've been behind Spain and Switzerland throughout.
  19. I'm really behind the Swiss, but that was an appalling decision - the South Koreans have been robbed.
  20. They got through with only one good performance. As France will be trying to do tonight.
  21. That's exactly the right approach to take, and I would be delighted to see it happen.
  22. You can listen to them with the World package (£3.99 a month (I think).... but you can hear every Football League - i.e. not Premier League - game for that) which is decent. Pay a bit more and you can get highlights online. Field of Dreams was a DVD. One of the best £5 I ever spent. I'd curse the playoffs too, but Barnsley were better than us, so they deserved it.
  23. I've lost count of the amount of Huddersfield games I've been to (about 600-700, I've seen about 12 away victories out of those :() and both the play, and the play-acting are frequently so bad as to be funny. My excuse is the more traditional bottle of scotch and Field of Dreams. But I am at work tomorrow.... yikes.
  24. I want to blame a curse. Use a curse, sorry.
  25. That would have extended Alan Shearer's career to taking penalties next season - it would certainly result in free-kick special teams (Hey, maybe David Beckham is worth a place on the team ). Its common in five-a-side and six-a-side, and I see no reason why there shouldn't be rolling substitutes, but maybe a limit of 10 per team.
