  1. That's not a Bruce Sprinsteen and the E Street Band album. Born To Run is, though, isn't it? I take your point about Tom Joad. I'd take Greetings From Asbury Park above Appetite as well, however much I enjoy it.
  2. I like the Kinks. I once heard of Pantera, but I don't know any of their songs.
  3. I can't stop listening to Born To Run (the album), so its the Boss. I liked the first half of the Ghost of Tom Joad a lot as well.
  4. I would throw regicide in there as well. I sense high treason and illegal possession of a babboon somewhere, too.
  5. Both of those fines will hit hard.
  6. Sorry. I missed my start. Its been tough keeping up with the game threads recently, as I've not been scheduling the start of the games as 'must see' events. :(
  7. Not even a fiery bus crash could kill Keith Richards at this point. It better not do, either. I've got designs on shoes made out of the leather that is his face.
  8. I voted Smashing Pumpkins because I love Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness, the song, the album and (especially) the video to Tonight, Tonight. I like most of the later Beatles work, but I could never give Mellon Collie up.
  9. I've always wanted to try and like Pearl Jam, but I've never quite been bothered to.
  10. I think of myself as a man, and I wouldn't head-butt someone in the street, no matter what they said; nor would I do it on a football field. This is offset, I guess, by the fact that I'm nowhere near as talented as Zidane or Materazzi and am unlikely to ever get anywhere near a World Cup Final - there must be some brain-frying pressure going on.
  11. Its only over until qualifying starts for 2010 - probably mid-2008; can't wait.
  12. People realise that Zidane has been sent off both for head-butting (whilst playing for Juventus in the Champions League) and in the World Cup Finals (against Saudi Arabia in 1998 for stamping) before, so its evident he has a flashpoint and there's something inside which can be triggered by saying something to him - so it was a surprise, but certainly not a shock. Marco Materazzi is exactly the kind of player who would try and find out what aspect of himself Zidane is so sensitive about and exploit it; if its a weakness, then prey on it. Its not in the best interests of sportsmanship, but if you win the World Cup, nobody's bothered. My only concern is that the butt was only brought to the referee's attention - as has been rumoured since - after the fourth and fifth official saw in on video; if so, they have contravened a FIFA law, and the dismissal is not only incorrect, but also a joke. It should have been a suspension applied after the game if they didn't see it; like Frings and Cufre in the Germany vs. Argentina game.
  13. Waterloo Sunset is my favourite of all songs, so I can't vote against it.
  14. I'm a Nirvana hater, too. And then, in a twist of my own utter stupidity, I voted for them.
  15. Much as I love You Can't Always Get What You Want; I've voted for the Lips because I really like them. Which is the idea of the poll, right?
  16. I'm not that big a Beatles fan, but I'm an even smaller fan of Megadeth.
  17. Zidane's been amazing in the knockout stages; he wasn't as dominant tonight as against Brazil, but he did enough. The way he keeps the ball is immense... just won't let it go.
  18. I've always found I can have a beer, (out of view of the pitch) unless at a European game.
  19. In the interest of national pride, I feel it my duty to support Italy, because Simone Perrotta was born in Manchester.
  20. C - Doug Mirabelli (catches for Wake) 1B - Lee 2B - Grudzielanek 3B - Chavez SS - Renteria LF - Jason Bay CF - Pass RF - I enjoy Bobby Abreu P - Z P - Tim Wakefield
  21. It would be nice to see it unfold, and read people's opinions of different players - and reasoning - but I don't think I could participate because my knowledge of baseball, while growing, is probably still too sketchy to be of any worth here.
  22. Personally, I've been a big fan of the growing international stature and maturity of Ribery; he's been amazing at OM this year (though was frustratingly quiet the only time I got to see him live) and its good to see that carry through into the national team.
  23. I much enjoyed the commentator (here) saying "But ref, I was just protecting my good looks"
  24. :) - Like the big brother of Portugal vs. Angola from earlier in the tournament.
